Deck Description

This is a cEDH list based on the older Marath Stax lists from the cEDH decklist database, but with some obvious changes as I put the list together entirely from memory after it was removed from the database and anything that I couldn't remember I just jammed something in its place that might be a functional line set. This should function relatively similarly to the older list in that it seeks to lock up games with Living Plane, Linvala, and Collector Ouphe. I added in some mana loops that felt relatively consistent to use Marath as a Fireball, but I'll likely need to slim the design of them a bit because they are a little intense. Luckily they function through most of the Stax pieces in this list, so closing out a game shouldn't be too difficult once you've got everything locked up.

How to Play

Some of the win conditions are pretty simple, they really just revolve around infinite mana and casting/re-casting Marath for the win. Auriok Salvagers, Lion's Eye Diamond, and Underworld Breach is probably the sleekest of these mana loops, but there are other loops that involve Cryptolith Rite, Temur Sabertooth/Cloudstone Curio, Village Bellringer/Great Oak Guardian, and enough creatures to untap to net mana. This seems like it can be difficult, but Marath actually supports the strategy very well by being able to produce 1/1s for 1 mana a piece on earlier turns. So accumulating a board state for this combo is easier than it might seem. Luckily, you don't even need to net mana with this combo if you find a Grapeshot, the storm count will end the game for you, and, in addition to this there are multiple other creatures that can enter the battlefield to net advantage if for some reason we are locked out of casting Marath.

The deck also runs a Twinflame/Heat Shimmer and Dualcaster Mage line for a decisive "end the game now" combo that can interact with multiple facets of the game.

Lastly, we have an Endurance loop with Wheel of Fortune and Auriok/LEDBreach. You can use Veil of Summer or Autumn's Veil to force your opponents to draw out their libraries as you loop yours back into the deck. Be careful how you do this, Wheel has to be on the stack when you evoke Endurance or else you'll screw up your own combo.

Any suggestions for cuts/replacements are appreciated. I doubt I'll do a full primer on this, it's really just a joke list for a pod of friends where we plan on taking our very first commanders and tuning them up as highly as we can. Hope ya'll enjoy the list.
