Deck Description

This dumb little deck idea came to me when my playgroup and I wanted to try restricting our next decks into block constructed, sort of. Our rules were that you had to choose a single Plane and you could only use cards from that specific Plane. The erratad rules were that the entire deck must be built within one standard block of itself, and originally we considered using core sets and other mid-year releases in addition to the major Plane itself, but we never reached a point of agreement on that. So I chose Lorwyn, home of the non-myrhic rares, deliverer of planeswalkers, and the most interesting tribal themed set in Magic's history. Of course Lorwyn eventually becomes Shadowmoor and has a break in between, but it is home to my heart and my fondest memories of Tolkeinesque lore. Although the initial idea was Scarecrow Tribal, I sort of dipped out on that in favor of Five Color Good Stuff with Scarecrows. Yes, the mana base is appalling, but to build it any other way would be a disgrace to our challenge so it stays as is.

How to Play

This is a completely nonsensical deck and unless you want to incredibly power down I recommend taking the shell of the idea and retrofitting into a more efficient interface. In short this deck operates with several themes such as light tribal elements, persist, mana sinks and even an infinite mana combo. The deck can do many things, but it has several different win conditions- mostly involving giving your creatures persist while wiping the board (including lands). The infinite mana combo works with Bloom Tender and Umbral Mantle, and it can be used in a variety of ways such as Helix Pinnacle, the Skulkins, Oona, Mirror Entity, Rhys, and Profane Command. Unfortunately I couldn't find many if any good sacrifice outlets within the sets, so I tried my best to make the permanents threatening enough to want to kill while protecting them so heavily that your opponents can't effectively wipe your board away. Lastly, I added in Guttural Response purely for Cyclonic Rift because I just know that someone will play Return to Ravnica just to screw around. Also, if the deck seems removal-light, that would be because I knew that eventually your prerogative is to cast and use Reaper King and he is well adept at removing permanents. I also added River Kelpie, Notorious Throng, and Runed Halo to the sideboard just in case they were necessary.
