Deck Description

I put this deck together from the groud up and it truly was the first deck that I designed myself. In casual 1v1s, I have found extreme success! I would say close to an 80% win rate! Let me know what you think!

How to Play

Play and protect Jace! Counter everything that can harm you or Jace and use Gideon as a sacrificial lamb! Has a lot of deck control as well with the ponders and Jace himself. Build my boy Jace up and pop his ult for the win!

Deck discussion for U/W Vintage Jace Control

So this is your first deck, DIY style? Then it's great!

But...
- This is really not a Vintage deck. Vintage has all the broken, free mana rocks and these cards are a MUST in that format, unless you have a deck like Dredge, which will not cast a single spell for mana. Label it as a (casual) Legacy deck please!
- Force of Will! This is THE best counterspell, since it costs {0}, allowing you to play Jace, tapping out, but still being able to counter stuff. And with the Jace +/-0, you'll be able to get the cards lost this way back.
- put in FoW, cut a few wraths. like 4. you might consider putting in another SwordsTP for one, since exiling is very relevant.
- You might considers putting in {Mishra's Factory} or {Mutavault} aswell. Not a must, but definitely great (Mishra's Factory is a 3/3 blocker on it's own).

Thanks for the CC! This deck is the first deck I really built from the ground up. Most of the decks that I have put together were decks that were already working effectively that I changed a few cards to suit my playstyle to which I would refer to things like, "my version of RDW." This was purely my baby that I built without inspiration from an external catalyst.

- I merely marked it Vintage because it is not legal in Modern or Standard. I'll mark it as casual to avoid confusion :D
- FoW is hands down the best counterspell in the game, I agree. I merely avoided putting it in so that more people could easily build this deck with the cards they have on hand. (I know Jace can be expensive as well, he's just a bit more recent than FoW.)
- I'll cut the DoJs, but the Wraths are staying, I just find too much use out of them haha!
- I added all cards that you mentioned and I agree that they are valued additions.

Thanks again for the help and I'll be sure to check out some of your decks if you have posted any!

You're welcome!

Yeah, the Jace being in there made me think that Money isn't as big of a deal. But FoW was just recently reprinted in Eternal Masters :) I don't know the pricing, though...
Wrath and DoJ are meant by "Wraths" :D ;) I can see that, but getting stuck on WrathS against a creature-light or even non-creature deck, just like yours, is really a pain, especially with the single-target removal... If you play sideboarded games, you might consider putting a few of them in there for games 2 and 3, if you're definitely get value out of them.
Oh and another thing about creature-centric removal: Sometimes - and I know this is a pain - noncreature permanents slip through your hand of counterspells. Cryptic Command does a great job at countering, pseudo sweeping and bouncing these noncreature permanents, while Austere Command is another sweeper, which can hit artifacts and enchantments.

But that's really everything I can think of right now... Have fun with it :D
