Deck Description

this deck is based on divine visitation and bishop of wings. I just needed a few sac outlets to get the infinite combo.

Deck discussion for Angelic Visits

I feel like brave the elements and safe passage are more sideboard cards than mainboard cards.

It's probably just a way to protect Bishop of Wings.

Yes, but doesn't that seem more like a game 2 issue? They bring in spot removal for bishop, and you counter by bringing in protection spells? I feel like more draw or removal would be better mainboard.

Honestly I have no idea, haven't played modern in quite a while. But isn't Jund and Jeskai Stoneblade the flavor of the month? Those all have mainboard removal. Besides, protecting combo pieces is a little different than protecting an aggro piece. I'd rather see 4 giver of runes over brave the elements and safe passage. Batwing Brume seems very meh in this deck, would rather see the full playset of paths and some inquisitions. Would probably just play the full set of Bitterblossom over the 2 zombie infestation and some something for card draw over the murder investigation, maybe Night's Whisper?
Like I said though, haven't played Modern for like, a year. I just occasionally look at the top decks. I also have no idea what the local meta for this deck is.

Brave the elements us also in there to protect the angel tokens I make .

So... To make sure the tokens get through for lethal damage?

Protecting angel tokens is very win-more. If you already have 5 angel tokens you're probably already winning the game. Flying is more than enough to push damage through, which is why I suggest giver of runes since it can protect your non white combo pieces as well. And hand hate with hard removal is usually way better than fog.

I have been trying to tell him that, but he really thinks the fog effects are needed. Hand disruption and spot removal is the way to go here. And something like Rebuff the Wicked or Giver of Runes of you really want the protection for the combo pieces. Or even Apostle's Blessing.

ok. I swapped out safe passage and batwing broom for anguished unmaking, a couple more path to exile, and a couple fatal pushes. I also swapped memorial to glory for castle ardenvale. I think this build will be a little more consistant.

Seems like Resplendent Angel would have a home here.

Lone Rider might be at home here too:

Same for Scroll of Avacyn

I can kind of see resplendent angel as it can create tokens, but I'm not sure I see how the other cards really fit here. Can you explain to me?

With the context that this is a combo deck.

Lone Rider is a cheap one drop, which this deck seems to have in Carrion Feeder and Viscera Seer-which in theory can get you card draw, but with Bishop of Wings you want to pop out tokens pretty quickly. Lone rider can quickly become a 4/4 with lifelink, trample and first strike.

(So turn one Lone Rider.

Turn 2 Bishop of Wings

Turn 3 Resplendent Angel, gain 4 life transform Lone Rider and profit!)

The croll does the same as Carrion Feeder and Viscera Seer, and at the same cost but quicker. And you gain life.

(So turn one Scroll of Avacyn

Turn 2 Bishop of wings

Turn 3 Resplendent Angel, gain 4 life.

Turn 4 Sac Scroll, gain 5 life, draw card and create Angel token with Vigilance, gain 4 more life from Bishop.)

I don't think it is necessarily better, but rather a different way to gain the card advantage and life, and generate tokens.

You could also add Lyra, give your angels +1/+1 and lifelink for the late game. Kind of depends on what you have available, and want to do.

I like what you're saying here with resplendent angel and scroll of Avacyn. That would work. But first off lone rider isn't a one drop. And secondly I don't think you get what the deck does.
There's two ways this deck can work, and they're both infinite combos.
First, if I have two bishop of wings out, a divine visitation and a sac outlet allowing me to have an infinite amount of angel tokens.
The second having just one bishop of wings, a divine visitation, a sac outlet and zulaport cutthroat, allowing me to drain others life when I sac an angel. Since I gain one back every time I can do it infinitely.

There are a lot of other combos that work here such as divine visitation and BitterBlossom. But those are the main two.

This is interesting.. I see SeriousPaul's comment, and forgive me, but what would be an ideal combo?

the ideal combo here is to have Bishop of wings, divine visitation, a token generator, a sacrifice outlet (viscera seer) and either an additional bishop ( to multiply your angels) or a life drain creature. its a super janky combo, but its infinite.

the premise of the combo is this:

it alls starts with a token generator: doesn't matter which one

divine visitation makes your tokens into Serra angels.

next is the sacrifice outlet. either viscera seer or carrion feeder. this lets you sacrifice your angels

bishop of wings likes angels dying, when an angel dies, you get a spirit token, which becomes an angel (because of divine visitation.

your official win condition is either zulaport cutthroat (which lets you drain infinite life) or an additional bishop, which gets you a second token each time an angel dies, so you get infinite tokens.

the sacrificing can happen on your opponent's turn, technically giving your tokens haste, to swing for lethal. if you use viscera seer, you can scry infinitely to find the card you want to draw the next turn. like brave the elements or something, making sure your angels get through.
