Deck Description

Each creature in this deck has an ETB effect which can be abused by "flickering" with Deadeye Navigator, Venser, the sojourner, Restoration Angel, and Momentary Blink.

Gain insurmountable card advantage with each creature you summon and flicker. Your turn? Opponent's turn? It doesn't matter when you have Prophet of Kruphix in play. It's like taking an extra turn every single turn!

I welcome any feedback. I'm still working on improving it and this is a very fun casual deck, but I'm sure people will have something to say about my running only 1 or 2 copies of some cards in the main deck. I'm also thinking of adding brainstorm in place of, or along side, ponder to improve the chances of getting an ideal first few turns.

I don't have a real sideboard, just some additional cards that I sometimes try out. Stoic Angel, for example, works well with Prophet of Kruphix in stymieing their attacks while I get to untap on their turn and it helps when I'm facing down lots of fliers. But in general, I haven't found it as useful as some of the other choices in the deck.

Lastly, if I could find a good substitute for Ponder and Man-O'-War, this deck would be modern legal.

How to Play

An ideal, and not uncommon, first few turns often goes like this:

t1: land, ponder -> set up land topdeck for next turn

t2: land, Coiling Oracle -> put 3rd land into play; (use it to play another ponder if you're lucky)

t3: land, Solemn Simulacrum -> put 5th land into play

t4: land, Prophet of Kruphix

Opponent's t4: untap all lands, play Deadeye Navigator at end of turn

After that, you can pretty much control the game as you see fit. Deadeye Navigator combos with nearly every other creature in the deck with dramatic outcomes:

Deadeye navigator + mulldrifter and you'll be drawing at least an extra 2 or more cards a turn on both your opponent's and your own turns.

Likewise, Deadeye navigator + Man-O'-War will clear their field of creatures.

Deadeye navigator + Mystic Snake will counter anything they try to do for the rest of the game.

Deadeye navigator + Coiling Oracle seems weaker at first glance than mulldrifter since it only does 1 card per flicker, but this can be a major mana accelerator as it puts any lands revealed directly in to play and all others into your hand (not that you'll really need a whole lot more mana once you have the combo set up). Either way, major card advantage.

Deadeye navigator + Eternal Witness recurr anything you want from your graveyard

Deadeye navigator + Acidic Slime destroy all of their artifacts, enchantments, and lands. Ouch.

A kicked Rite of Replication is the finisher for this deck and typically wins the game outright whenever it is cast.

One of the most fun plays I had was a kicked Rite of Replication + coiling oracle which brought in 3 additional lands and 2 cards to my hand— eternal witness and Man-O'-War. I immediately played the eternal witness with the 3 new lands and got back the Rite from graveyard. During opponent's turn, used alchemists refuge to cast the kicked Rite targeting opponent's Vampire nighthawk. My turn rolls around again and I play Man-O'War and soulbond to Deadeye, bouncing all their creatures. After that, 10 points of unblocked lifelinked damage = good game.

(Warning/hint: a kicked Rite of Replication targeting Restoration Angel during opponent's end step while Man-O'-War in play is just plain evil and degenerate and may lead to you being shot or stabbed by your friends)
