I love the Test of Endurance card. I pulled one or two in an assorted card box once, and I've always wanted to build a deck around them. This was a first attempt, but I'm sure there are many, many improvements to be made.This is not a tourney deck by any means, just casual deck for kitchen table games with friends.
The deck is centered around Test of Endurance, so beginning my turn with 50+ HP is the win condition. There are tons of green and white cards with lifelink and life gain effects, so i'm sure this isn't the cream of the crop. Suggestions are more than welcome.* Equipping Celestial Mantle onto Rhox or Augur il-Vec is one of the main goals, as Celestial Mantle doubles the controller's HP when the equipped creature deals combat damage to a player. Augur il-Vec was chosen, because Shadow-type creatures are probably not too common, so it's a bit of an exploit with aged cards. * I added Asceticism to help keep my creatures from being targeted. I have Ivory Mask in the sideboard as well to protect me from cards which might say "target player sacrifices..." if needed.* Ajani will be helpful with his last ability, if he makes it on the battlefield long enough.* If i don't pull Ajani, I also added Rhox Faithmender and Boon Reflection to help gain twice as much life at a time.* Enlightened Tutor helps to search my library for helpful enchantments. * Nissa isn't essential to the deck, however her abilities to help to gain life by means of Soul and Essence Wardens, and her -X ability can be helpful closer to end game (if it drags out) by refilling my hand with cards. * Elixir of Immortality was tossed in just in case something vital goes to the graveyard, i can recycle my graveyard back into my library.
