Deck Description

Much more aggressive version of the Pox archetype. With this deck, it's more about racing your opponent to the win, rather than locking him out of the game.

Idealy, you want to start with a bunch of disruption spells and a Rack card (The rack or Shrieking affliction). Hammer away at the opponents hand and once they are down to but a few cards, drop The Rack and watch them question the correct plays.

Should they keep cards in hand to avoid the damage? Or should they play and try to race your wincons?

It all depends on the situation and topdecks. Keeping cards in hand makes discard spells pretty good and it stops your opponent from killing you. Playing cards opens them up for damage and they might get into a point where they know they will just die in 3 turns no matter what they do.

This is basicaly a version of the deck that I played a few years back. I now have some cards that I want to test out. Namely Fatal push instead of innocent blood (1 mana instant that can hit manlands which are quite a problem) and possibly Asylum visitor (With Fatal push you run into less problems of killing your creatures and they are quite a clock + card advantage). I currently have only one push because I mostly play commander games, but I want to test this deck out once again (now that Treasure cruise is banned).

The deck is quite linear, but it does have a few tricks and treats.

Spinning darkness - instant, no mana and the life gain is quite relevant as you will often be racing the opponent. You can kill your Mishra's factory if you really need the life.

Setting up a T2 smallpox - Playing a discard T1 and leaving the opponent with a 1 drop creature so that you can smallpox T2 is generally backbreaking. Especialy if you can discard.

Funeral charm is an instant speed discard and yes, there is a priority pass in the draw step, after the card is drawn. You can discard your opponents topdeck before he gets his mainphase.

Funeral charm + Urborg - For those last few points of damage, Funeral charm grants swampwalk in times of need. It's good to remember, these situations do come up.

Dakmor salvage + Raven's crime/Bloodghast - Dakmor is almost always better off in the grave (if you have other lands) for recuring Bloodghasts or playing raven's crime. The Raven's crime + Dakmor combo alone means that your opponents are forced to play whatever they draw.

Deck discussion for Rackpox [Legacy]

Looks solid, I would recommend having Wastelands+Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, they help alot with some match ups with Smallpox by mana screwing people. Instead of Powder Keg I would say Ratchet Bomb is better.

Other then that it looks pretty stock, not usually the style of Pox I would play but it does what it does well.

Ah, you caught it before I made the last few changes.

Powder Keg was prefered in this case because it hits manlands which was my main bane of existence. With Fatal Push now, it won't be that much of a concern so I will probably remove it altogether. I just have to get a few more copies and switch them for Innocent bloods.

As for the Wastelands. I did think about them, but it always seemed a bit counterproductive to me. For this version of the deck atleast. If you destroy all of your opponents mana, he can't play spells which means he will have a full grip - The Rack does nothing. If you take out a few lands here and there with Smallpox and kill all his threats, it opens up the game for a damage race.

I suppose that's fair, I just feel like every fair deck in legacy needs Wastelands to punish the faster decks and their low land counts. If you want I have my own Pox list posted on here, might help with other ideas. It isn't a Rack version, a bit more traditional with pieces I've put in for my own play style.
