In that aspect, I think you nailed the essence of Blue.

Wish I would of knew about MTG, sooner, as well. I started around end of Tempest. Believe Black Lotus was around 50 dollars a piece, back then. No way my teenage self could afford a 50 dollar card! If only I could of seen the future!

Pretty fair representation of Blue.

But missing stuff like Boomerang and Counterspell.
But have no idea what to take out.

Same Puschkin. Came back to visit. Wish I had more time and money to invest and play Magic.

Wife has begged me to try and teach my 7 year old boy and 11 year old girl. They are very smart for their ages. Top of their classes.

So bringing out some of my old decks this weekend, and going to begin process of teaching them.
Any advice Puschkin and wickeddarkman? I made, years ago (I think I posted some of the decks here), one cheap (around 20-50 dollars each), 1 deck of each color: one white, one red, one white, one black, and one green.

I tried to make, in my opinion, each color be a basic example of what each color represents in magic.
Red deck is fast, direct damage, reckless.
Blue is control, card draw, counter.
Green is Mana ramp, creatures, vitality.
Etc etc

Long story short, the idea of teaching them brought me here. To this site. To check out new cards, refresh my mind, and get ideas/advice.

Only 4 white Mana occurrence? Seems like you could take white out and have a much easier time with Mana.

+2 Drift of Phantasms (defender that lets you search for High Alert)
+2 Congregate
+2 Absorb or Overrule

Good luck.

And...99 percent sure you want to keep this deck with a one win condition set up.

So we must look at what will stop your deck.

1. Decks that out race your deck (think white weenie or green stompy).
2. Decks that remove your win condition (think black discard or blue control).
3. Decks that skip/ignore your creatures (think red direct damage).

So, what to do? What to do?

Issues 1 and 3 can be solved with life gain.
Suggestion: take out 3 walls and add in 3 Congregate.
Gaining life gives you much needed time for your High Alert.

Issue 2 be solved with counter spells and maybe even search cards to find High Alert.
Suggestion: take out 3 walls and add in 3 counter spell type cards.

I looked and commented on your burn deck.

The card I suggested may be banned. Been several years since I played Magic.

And with so few creatures...maybe add (at least to sideboard if not in main deck)...some creature removal like Pyroclasm.

Will change out Browbeat. And change other things as suggested.

Thanks.

Was wondering if Eidolon of the Great Revel isn't a good fit.

Should I go pure Goblins? And add maybe some Goblin Lackeys or Goblin Piledrivers?

Turn 1. Goblin Guide. 2 damage
Turn 2. Mogg Maniac. Guide swings for 2 damage.
Turn 3. Seething song into Furnace of Rath and Goblin Grenade.
Guide swings for 4 damage. Goblin Grenade hits Mogg Maniac. 20 damage to opponent.
Sacrifice two tapped mountains to cast Fireblast for 8 damage.

End of Turn 3. Total damage is 36.

Turn 4. Cast Eidolon of the Great Revel and wait for opponent to cry.

This is a 20 dollar deck. Your deck title is misleading
