The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

I would have to say the thing that inspired me the most to build a deck like this would be to have the mean side of me come out in my deck rather out in person while at the same time fast enough to keep up with the faster decks.
I play this deck by getting as much devotion out as possible and saving gray merchant for a finishing move.

A combo with gray that I like to do is Altar's Reap with Whip of Erebos. As a control player, I wouldn't let you play gray so reanimating it would be the thing to do.

what exactly does altar's reap do?
1B. As an additional cost to cast Altar's Reap, sac a creature. Draw 2 cards.
why exactly would i want to sac a creature when I want to get the devotion up for gray unless I drop gray it does it's effect then play altar's reap before it can be taken off the field correct?
That's primarily what it's for, but it is not limited to that use. Your use of it depends on strategy, and what your opponent is playing. Underworld Connections is use a lot in mbd. MD connections, SB reap if concerned about devotion. They both have their strong points.
