I've been toying with the idea of pirate decks for a while trying various mechanisms out. I've noticed there are several decent ones in the new set as well as some solid tribal utility cards . I am still debating whether to go mono blue, blue black, or blue black red. Although it wouldn't be terribly competitive I think you could even have fun with this in modern subbing in aether vials, cavern of souls, sapphire medallions if you are going one or two color. Suggestions are definitely appreciated. The deck really relies on getting favorable winds out. I am considering running masterminds acquisition to increase the probability of that but it might end up being too slow that way. It would give me sideboard access to cards like vraska's contempt should I run into scarab god, etc
The main think I'm hoping for here will be some speed and staying ahead of the curve with pump. I'll have to play around with the build to see how best to accomplish that. Crafty cut purse in the sideboard against token gen, sorceress spyglass to try to break or slow combos or key cards. Scavenger grounds for going up against gearhulk decks.
