I wanted to build a deck that actually let me feel like a necromancer, so the commander doesn't really matter too much. Sideboard is filled with cards that can potentially be swapped in for sub-optimal cards that were added for personal flavor.
Play your deck to generate advantages through whatever means are available to you. Politics, Draw, Board Presence, etc. Mass reanimate to recover from board wipes, and of course there is a combo or two in there (revolves around Ashnod's Alter) for games that are lasting WAY too long.
