You look like you've seen a ghost…With Halloween approaching, I wanted to take a look of two of the standard decks I have had in the past, and turn them into fun modern decks~With the success in standard I had with u/w spirits, I was more than happy to try to shift them into a modern deck post rotation. After looking at it's performance in standard and looking other tempo decks in modern such as Merfolk, I thought spirits should in theory work as well! Evade removal while hiccuping opponents game plan, and knocking on their life-points door turn after turn... I know Bant spirits exist, but I want to keep them U/W to their type to keep it more or a tribal deck. Suggestions more than welcome~ Beware!

Resently i've tried modern uw spirits myself. I think they are a little underpowered but its a fun deck though.Whats the reason for not running aether vial main here? Have you thought about Tallowisp to fetch for Steel of the Godhead?

The main reason is cost, I'm looking at something I can realistically build, and I wont be able to afford a play-set of vials for some time lol Tallowisp wouldn't be bad, but the steel of the godhead is just a win more card, not super core to the deck I think, I would need that 2 slot for rattle chains more importantly.
Looks neat on a first view! I personally (as Merfolk player from first hour) would play 4 Aether Vial main because they are a better option in late game than Cavern of Souls are. Hate cards are as same for lands as for artifacts so there would be no difference here but Aether Vial in late game for 2 or 3 counters will save a lot mana to spend and you could flash ANY spirit on the board (having a Aether Vial on 1 and a Cursecatcher in my backhand saved me a lot of games for instant counter important stuff).I think Kira is a bit of shooting with canons on birds because nearly each spirit you play either has Hexproof on its own or gets Hexproof by another one. But PliNter is also right for your powering compared to Merfolk (as you mentioned in your description). While Merfolk has its lords there is a little what spirits have. Battleground Geist is too expensive for its single +1/+0 powering, Gallows Warden is the same for thoughtness and at least Drogskol Captain as your one and only option while the clue about bant spirits is they have the Exalted ability for even more power. One option could be Phantasmal Image to copy clonw your Drogskol Captain but as nearly all of your spirits fly, you could also give Favorable Winds a try as I did for my Faeries (because they also lack for enougth lords)As from experience, 4 Path to Excile is too much, 3 would also be enougth unless you play against decks theres key card is a pathable creature.Your board cards seem pretty standard except I would replace Stony Silence for some Kataki, War's Wage because it is a spirit too and artifact heavy decks will not have enougth resources to pay for it
Cursecatcher for sure if what I was comparing Mausoleum Wonder to, and thats what made me think the deck could work! As stated before, I'd love the Vials but right now the price point is turning me away. Kira I'd agree but it's also just such a cool spirit it's hard to resist. Favorable winds wouldn't be a bad idea! For sure I want to tweak the support package of counters and removal spells. For sure I like Kataki better than storn, but stony is just so brutal. Hi there! I don't play modern but I dig the deck. I am going to echo the others and say you need to find room for aether vial in the main. I am also skeptical of steel of the godhead. It can be powerful but mostly on a multicolor creature only. It seems anti synergy with Essence Flux and the spirits that sacrifice themselves. The deck already lacks card advantage and most of your creatures have evasion already, I would suggest an global enchantment or equipment over an aura. Maybe something like Basilisk Collar, Sword of Light and Shadow, Mask of Memory, Specter's Shroud, Captians Claws, or Quietus Spike.Good luck with the deck!
I noticed that myself, but the thought of a 4/4 unblock lifelink able giest of saint traft or a 4/5 unblockable lifelink Spell queller looks really tasty. For sure, as stated before, I'd love vials if I can get them~
Steel of the Goodhead is absolutely playable as a one or two drop

It's not a rip off :) Multiple people can like the same idea! I was just running it in standard, and when it rotated, wanted to see if they could make it in modern :P
There are still outiseders with a little bit of imagination beyond the masses that copy tourney decks ;)
