I'm trying to build a mono green deck for a beginner here in standard. It's abusing elves and other various effects. Yes, it's staying mono green. Multiple colors can be hard for some to grasp and I dont want to start her out with too many confusing mechanics. The thing is, all her friends play some sort of standard variants where I'm a Legacy kind of guy so I'm forced to use stuff from standard atm.

Dude I only play casual, so I don't know what your limited too... Umm Llanawar elf could help, Seeker of Skybreak, Birds of paradise, and Howling mines? To speed it up.

well if you're trying to build a deck for a beginner, i think that her deck shouldnt have to be standard. my first deck wasnt and if she is a beginner, then why would she need a standard? is she going to play it in tournaments? a ramping deck is very good to put together for newbies.
I explained to her the formats and she says she wants to play standard.
Standard s pretty hard core for a noob, it would require her to continually buy cards to keep up. That's why I never played standard. Starting out, though, I suppose it would at least make the task of looking up cards less daunting. Good call on starting with a tribal deck too. Tribal is a great way to go for beginners.
maybe add in something like naturalize and then maybe add in a simple artifact like pristine talisman so she has a variant of everything
Was considering going x2 Naturalize. Pristine Talisman has cycled out, unfortunately.
