Trying to put together a cheap, solid Soldier deck for a friend that is just getting in to Magic, and wanted to put something together for him that was fairly straight forward, and yet had some versatility and power.

Thank you. It was a little tricky keeping this both well-rounded, cheap, and decent for Tournament play.
Might I suggest incorporating Crusader of Odric? There are tokens here and Crusader does great with lots of creatures and tokens since her stats are based on the number of creatures under your control. I use her in my white deck I have and that I have shared on here: Odric's Army. Feel free to take a look to get inspired. ^^ Hope your friend comes to love Magic like the rest of us. It really is quite addicting...but soo much fun!
