Deck discussion for counter mania

Fit 4 copies of High Tide...maybe? It speeds the deck up. For One Blue mana ever other land, until end of turn, you tap produces an extra blue mana. Turn 4, a land drop every turn, High Tide gives you 6 mana. Most of your cards in this deck cost 3 mana. Turn 4, with high tide, you could play 2 of those cards. The extra mana could be used to play a wizard or be used to pay Pitmage/Patron Wizard's abilities. High Tide goes well with Howling Mine, if you are drawing 2 cards every turn, might as well have the extra mana to cast them. Would take out Daring Apprentice for it.

Or, instead of the Counterspell put in Mana Leak. Mana Leak, counter target spell unless the opponent pays 3 mana. If they tap out the mana, it makes Disruptive Pitmage and Patron Wizard more of a threat. Either they get a counter spelled by you OR they tap 3 mana and most likely will not be able to play a second spell that turn due to Pitmage and Patron.

And I still like Mana Leak over Ixidors. Ixidors is much, much more powerful with your wizard deck...but i think Mana Leak is much more tricky. It makes the opponent think. It can trick them into tapping out all of their lands. Regardless, Mana Leak and Ixidor is really good for this deck.

btw, how did you even find out about Ixidor's Will? I had never heard of it. Very neat card for a wizard deck.

Ixidor's Will may be too powerful for the deck...if that makes sense...i mean, they will not pay the extra cost of the spell if you have several wizards in play. They will just let the counterspell go through and keep their extra lands untapped. It may end up just being a 3 mana counterspell for you.

Still say something like a Mana Leak could be better. It makes the opponent think, "Do i spend 3 extra mana on my spell? If i do, can i afford to play another spell do to his Wizards being in play?" It forces him to really think about what he wants to do.

For a bonus reason to keep Mana Leak...it is an instant for 2 mana. It works for the Scepter if you do not have a boomerrang, high tide, or mystic tutor in your hand. Mana Leak or Counterspell works for Scepter, the Ixidor's Will does not.

For example, you have a Patron Wizard out. You also have out Ischron/mana leak imprinted. Opponent has 5 Lands in play. He plays a 2 mana spell, you tap the Ischron/scepter and he has to pay 3 more mana. He is now out of Mana. You simply tap a wizard through Patron Wizard and he loses the spell he just payed 5 mana for.

Another example. You have the same cards out. He has 6 mana out. He plays a 2 mana spell out. You tap Patron Wizard so he then pays 1 extra mana to keep his spell from being countered. You then tap the Scepter/Mana leak, making him tap 3 more lands to keeo the spell in play or he sacs the spell and does not pay the 3 mana. Either way, he is either had a spell countered or he has paid 6 mana for a 2 mana spell.
