Deck Description

Abzan inspired (leaving out Black) deck with an aggressive curve and heavy counter distribution mechanics.

How to Play

This aggro deck will get you a very decent board in a very decent amount on time. Targeted instants and abilities will allow Phalanx Leader's Heroic ability to trigger and get counters across your board.
Hardened Scales will make it so your creatures soon become enormous.
All creatures with counters will benefit from Abzan Falconer's and Battle Priest's perks.
Archetype of Courage can be switched out for Ainok Bond-Kin too.
The sideboard is mainly to make the deck more aggressive in case you would need it.
There are also some answers to heavy burn decks and board wipes.

any reason not to run 4 fetches? It not only fixes but also filters a land out of your deck. I'd drop a bow and a hardend sands. replace with two fetches.

Archetype of Courage is really bad in multiples. Slow to play and a feel bad if you have two in your opening hand. Only run one.

Add a nyxos to use your devotion. Also you probably want to drop that second bow. The spear of heliod adds to devotion and can put you out of bile blight and anger of the gods range. That's much better than slowly adding counters.

I see you are trying a first strike / deathtouch combo... but thats too slow you'll be dead from a stormbreath dragon before any of that happens. How will you deal with stormbreath dragon? I think you add plummet to your sideboard, its a boring card but necessary. Gruul could have that stormbreath rampped out by turn 3. Thankfully you don't have to deal with burning tree anymore lol, but still.

Hi thelostone,
I'm thinking about bringing the 3rd and 4th fetchlands in. I'm just not so sure yet about dumping 4 life in there if it ever comes down to that.

Would you replace Archtype for Ainok ? I run Archetype to make sur I get the FS in (hopefully with deathtouch) plus I get the extra devotion for clutch Acolyte's Rewards. I'll think about it. I'm considering your Spear suggestion also.. Seems like a very good idea. I'll have to test it out.

Thanks a bunch for the feed back. Very much appreciated!

The better way to use the Outlast synergy is not using Outlast ability, but getting counters from other sources plus Abzan Falconer, Abzan Battlepriest and the other guys. Well done! Bow of Nylea is quite Nice. But you should consider Ainok Bond-Kin. First strike plus Deathtouch from Bow of Nylea is quite powerful.

I get First strike from Archetype of Courage plus some additional devotion for some clutch Acolyte's reward. Ainok is definitely in my sideboard if ever I need to go more aggressive. It does very good with Return to the Ranks too if I make the swap. Thanks for your comment!

Yes! I said it because i think you could play 2 more drop 2 creatures. Your idea is to play aggro, but your mana curve is quite high.

:) I'll let you know once I have more games in. I feel like I'm losing hand advantage quite early already. Don't you think a lower curve would make that even more problematic ?

Probably, but if your idea is to press and win early, loose hand advantage is not a problem. Its just a problem if your hand is empty and your field is empty too. So you need more draws. For that, Courser of Kruphix would probably resolve it. Or just Warriors' Lesson. You could get some space removing some Acolyte's Reward and 1 Hardened Scales + 1 Brave the Sands.

This looks pretty good! I've always loved the idea behind Reap what is Sown and Phalanx Leader. With the addition of the Abazan abilities, it really put a good synergy to it.

Only suggestion I could say is possible Sideboard Godsend, Banishing light, Spear of Heliod. This will help with match up games. Rabblemaster is going to be a problem and Godsend handles him very nicely. Banishing light will remove Elspeth and any other planeswalkers, Spear of heliod is a decent pump plus spot removal.

This deck looks great for an aggro deck. I think a few hero's banes would be great. They double in power for every 4 mana you pump into them. It stops an opponent from dragging the game to turn 30. I made a deck that is a lot like yours except its on a $30 budget, check it out if you get a chance. http://www.mtgvault.com/duckie5000/decks/outlast-gw-under-30/
