Building it:I wanted to make a beginner's deck for each of my friends. The Idea behind this is that if we get a new player he can play against each with the (beginner) deck he choose and still have a good chance as they should be roughly equal in power level. So how to build an elf deck without any lords? This is my take on it. Cardpool:To keep this deck simple I decided to stay modern-legal even if this would only be played at the kitchen table. Lands are limited to Commons and Uncommon', no Rare's or Mythic's. Other cards are limited to Common's, Uncommon's and 1 Rare (max 4 times) per deck, no Mythic's.Mass-strengthening-effects (+x/+x to all creatures) and too many spells with multiple effects should also be avoided.Budget:The overall budget for the beginner's decks should be between 14 to 16$. (Mid value).Keywords/ Mechanics in this deck you'll have to explain (Beside the basic rules):Tokens, +1/+1 counters, Deathtouch, Revolt, Hexproof, Trample, X-Mana SpellsTests:At the moment this deck exists only on this site and has never been played against another deck. Regardless I'm open to all suggestions and ideas that may help to further improve this deck.
The "leader" of this deck is Immaculate Magistrate which can strengthen a single creature in no time. Supported by a bunch of small, fast creatures. In combination with Colossal Majesty it allows for additional carddraw, which also helps to make good use of Lys Alana Huntmaster

good but colossal majesty is complietly useless

Any ideas of what to replace it with? I planned it with Immaculate Magistrate in mind as creature that can strengthen others but the Magistrate can be removed rather easily.
Maybe Elvish Promenade can take Colossal Majesty's place? I've been playing Elves since Lorwyn / Shadowmoor and, especially in the earlier days, making a ton of Elves always felt good.On the same note, finding space for Gilt-Leaf Ambush may be worth it. These two spells are Tribal, so they also trigger Lys Alana Huntmaster.
Problem with Elvish Promenade is that it will push the deck over the already exceeded cash limit (14-16$). I will give Gilt-Leaf Ambush a try tough it might be too complicated to understand for a beginner. *Edit: Just swapped Llanowar Elves for Elvish Mystic. Does the same but the average price is 1.11$ for the elves vs. 0.22$ for the Mystic, guess the Elves are played by too many people.
Llanowar Elves is currently in Standard. And they're the iconic elf mana dork. So the price difference is not that surprising.
