Basic Idea:This deck, and others of this series, is intended for first-time players. To achive this I wanted to keep the deck extra simple so that the new player can focus on getting to know the rules, tactics and understanding what's going on. The other decks of this series can be found under: http://www.mtgvault.com/muktol/simple/Mill wasn't an option for a real beginners deck so the question was: What is Dimir all about? In my opinion it's card advantage and control so this is what I wanted this deck to look like. Cardpool:To keep this deck simple I decided to stay modern-legal even if this would only be played at the kitchen table. Lands are limited to Commons and Uncommon', no Rare's or Mythic's. Other cards are limited to Common's, Uncommon's and 1 Rare (max 4 times) per deck, no Mythic's.Mass-strengthening-effects (+x/+x to all creatures) and too many spells with multiple effects should also be avoided.Budget:The overall budget for the beginner's decks should be between 14 to 16$. (Mid value).Mechanics in this you'll have to explain: Fyling, Exile, Counterspell, Tokens, +1/+1 counter, LifelinkTests:At the moment this deck exists only on this site and has never been played against another deck. Regardless I'm open to all suggestions and ideas that may help to further improve this deck.
Havengul Runebinder is one of the most important creatures here as he can turn dead creatures into your advantage. So you don't really need to wory if you should sacrifice Impaler Shrike for those 3 cards. Do it and gain a zombie afterwards! Maggot Carrier is to weak? Attack and if he dies get a zombie token. If you already have tokens on the field then the Runebinder's ability will further strengthen your already existing tokens. Doom Blade, Unsummon and Mana Leak will remove threats your opponent puts on the field while Grotesque Mutation allows you to deal more damage and gain life from it.
