Deck Description

"And you get a deal, and you get a deal, and you get a deal..."

This is a Budget Elder Dragon Highlander deck (BEDH for short). It is meant for the Elder Dragon Highlander format, a.k.a. Commander. If you are not familiar with the format, I'll link it below for you.

I mostly use MTG Vault for my own private projects nowadays, but feel free to comment or request a deck of your choice. I've loved the Vault so far, and I like that they are still improving on it, as well as I am improving on my English language skills.

So, if you like what you see, consider checking out some of my other budget-y work from the link below.

How to Play

Gluntch is a pretty weird commander. He sure can let you make some sweet deals with other players, but be careful not to fuel them too much in the process! Luckily enough, this deck runs a plenty of options to disarm the foes empowered by your gifts!

You should aim to be 'the good guy' most of the game, at least until one or two of the other players have been eliminated. Then you should start pressing the advantage and turning your blessings against your enemies. Remember that you still should whack enemies from the earlier game on when able using creatures with some proper buffs on them, such as Behemoth Sledge or Loxodon Warhammer.

This deck is designed so that you should let yourself draw the extra card most of the time (Gluntch's option #2). Use the other options to grant +1/+1 counters to a player who runs the fewest creatures (so you'll have less targets for some effects) and let the player with the least cards currently in play have the Treasure tokens. How do you counter these benefits when needed? Well, here's how:

BIG CREATURES. The player who gets the +1/+1 counters will get some big creatures in no-time. How do you counter these? Well, this deck at least runs several targeted removals against big creatures (Guiding Bolt, Selesnya Charm, Skywhaler's Shot, Valorous Stance), but also other removal cards (Contraband Livestock, Reduce to Memory, Wing Shards) could work. You can even try some more unorthodox ways of utilizing big enemy creatures, as example with creatures like Nils, or other cards such as Bloodthirsty Blade, Predatory Impetus and Martial Impetus! If all else fails, hunker down with a couple of deathtouch-blockers or perhaps even wipe the table as a whole!

TREASURE TOKENS. Well, this gets a bit trickier. How do you punish someone from having a bunch of mana-giving artifacts in play? Unfortunately a few of the more powerful effects against these cost a whole lot of money, so they can't be included in the deck. The fortunate part is that you can still provide yourself with some form of protection. Arcbound Crusher becomes bigger every time an artifact enters the 'field, no matter on whose side. Fangren Marauder lets you heal yourself for quite a lot when your opponents start cracking up those Treasures, and Ich-Tekik grows bigger while they do so. Remember that you can always also wipe all artifacts with effects like Creeping Corrosion so you can force the enemy options.

Once you have a shot at winning, buff up your creatures with equipments, effects such as Duelist's Heritage and perhaps even Exponential Growth, then swing for the fences! This deck can turn a passive defense into an all-out offense in a single turn, provided you can take your time digging for the resources (in which Gluntch can really help)!

Well, that was a bit longer wall of text than usual. Anything left to mention or ask? Feel free to drop by the comment section below!
