Deck discussion for Budget Decks: Angry Nixilis

I'm kinda surprised that ob nixilis isn't seeing much standard play.

I think the problem with nixilis is his high mana cost for relatively low stats. There's a lot of early aggro (with Mardu and Temur) and removal cards that he is susceptible to that makes him difficult to play.

Well, that's what I think at least. I'm just a casual player, so I don't know much XD

I agree with exodd, though I am casual player too, so I can't be completely sure.

It really depends on what the opponent is playing. While he does have relatively low stats, he says no to fetch lands and has a chance to get stronger.

Funny use of 'target player searches' with Ob Nixilis. I like it :)

Thanks. This deck might not be THAT good, but I really hope it is fun to play.

Thanks North! I know Ob is expensive, but with some battlefield control spells I'm sure you can last long enough against casual decks to bring him out. And awesome that you included a hexproof cards. Removal spells are definitely devastating...but I would still sideboard some Doom blade's too. I've been working on an Ob deck too but still bouncing ideas based off cards that I currently own. I am probably going to proxy this deck and give you feedback :)

Sure, go ahead!
I can always add some more kill spells into the sideboard.

Why not make an Ob Nixilis EDH deck? Force opponents to search their libraries, and then you win.
Also just bringing the PAIN on tutor effects

Too bad that there's only one black card that forces your opponent to search, and that is Maralen. Guess I could create an EDH around Maralen, while including Nixilis in it.

I posted a budget friendly version of the combo. I think it's under $30.
