Deck Description

Do you want to play EDH? Don't you have an EDH deck? Do you think most of those ready-to-play-decks cost too much for your desires?
...Or do you just think you can't figure out a funny idea for your EDH deck?
NO MORE!
Budget EDH-series is meant for players that want to play EDH.
They are playable and their cost is low!
(Between 25 and 50 bucks.)

This specific budget EDH was inspired and requested by SETHKING43.

How to Play

This deck's sole purpose is to teach the basics of perhaps the most enjoyable multiplayer format, Elder Dragon Highlander (EDH for short) or Commander.

Elder Dragon Highlander is played quite like the basic Magic: The Gathering format, with a couple of exceptions:

- Players start the game with 40 life points instead of the regular 20.

- Each player has exactly 100 cards in their decks. No more, no less. A player can have only 1 copy of every single card, excluding basic land cards.

- One of the cards in each player's deck is called their "Commander". This commander can be any LEGENDARY CREATURE, and it starts the game outside its owner's deck in a specific zone called "The Command Zone". Command zone is visible to all players. A player may cast their commander from their command zone as though it was in their hand.
* Example: This deck's commander is Wasitora, Nekoru Queen.

- A deck can contain only the colors of the deck's commander.
* Example: This deck can only contain the colors Black, Red and Green.

- If a commander would change its zone, its owner may choose to return the commander to the command zone. If so, the commander's mana cost is cumulatively increased by two colorless mana.
* Example: Wasitora dies while it is on the battlefield. Its owner chooses to return it to their command zone instead of putting it into their graveyard. Wasitora's mana cost increases by 2. Wasitora's mana cost is now {4}{B}{R}{G}.

- Combat damage dealt by commanders is called "Commander damage". A player loses the game if they take 21 or more commander damage from the same commander during the same game.

As can be seen, EDH is a game mode that requires specific deckbuilding and gives some restrictions, but it also grants the player many new strategies: as a single legendary creature is (almost) always available, very interesting decks can be crafted around the creature.

In this deck, the theme is Wasitora Dragon Tribal. Wasitora is a dragon herself, and is able to create smaller dragon creature tokens. Wasitora is also Black, Red and Green, which are all good colors for a dragon tribal deck.

Since you can run only one copy of each card in your deck, it is often a good idea to make sure each card serves its own role in the deck. Here's a few example categories of the cards from this deck:

Dragons.
This deck is a dragon tribal. That means it needs dragons to work. Cards like Broodmate Dragon, Flameblast Dragon and Hellkite Charger are good examples of efficient dragon creatures. On the other hand, Atarka, World Render, Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury and Utvara Hellkite are dragons that knit up the tribal together nicely. All are dragons that work fine together.

Tribal Synergy.
A tribal deck without tribal synergies is not going to get far. Cards like Crucible of Fire, Dragonlord's Servant, Dragon Tempest and Vanquisher's Banner provide powerful support to your mighty dragon beatsticks.

Mana ramp.
Dragons cost a lot of mana. Luckily many green cards provide the deck with the mana nutrition needed to cast all the big flying beaters. Farhaven Elf, Cultivate, Explosive Vegetation, Ondu Giant, Sakura-Tribe Elder and Sylvan Ranger are merely examples of these cards. Also artifacts like Sol Ring and Worn Powerstone are a valuable resource in almost any EDH deck.

Removal.
Typically Elder Dragon Highlander is played with 3 or 4 players, so there are going to be many threats on the board. That's why it is always a good idea to have a couple of removal cards lying around just in case your opponent attempts to do something nasty. Crux of Fate, Earthquake, Lavalanche, Putrefy, Slice in Twain and Smash can handle many obstacles your opponents decide to drop in front of you.

Maybe. Although, I suggest trying Arahbo, Roar of the World as the commander instead. Many of cats in MTG happen to be White-colored.
