Using The Opponent's Deck

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

Shared Fate has always been one of my favourite cards. It completely subverts the game! Simply laughing on the face of every concept of deck buiding and playing philosopies, this deck is made to make the enemy's weapons backfire. After Shared Fate has been played, the game is nearly over. Just use the opponent's deck to beat themselves!

How to Play

Shared Fate is a fragile card. Memory Lape is your only defense, since cards like Boomerang and mass annihilation cards may be used later on by the opponent against yourself.

This is a complicated deck. The game should change substantially after Shared Fate has been played - by the way, Enlightened Tutor and Idyllic Tutor are the cards that try to bring it into your hand as quickly as possible. Birds of Paradise, Fellwar Stone and Fertile Ground help, too.

The only cards that will try to hold the opponent off are Abeyance (could be Orim's Chant), Wall of Denial and Memory Lapse. The reason is simple: all your cards must be effective against the opponent, but uneffective when your opponent uses against you. Thus, seemingly useful cards like Brand and Brainstorm had to be disconsidered.

I can't figure out what the Wheel and Deal is for.

Fellwar stone fits the goal/theme and give you more acceleration (which seems vital). This could go hand in hand with replacing Undiscovered Paradise, since it slows you down and you have plenty of fixing already.

Sterling Grove might be good here (a slow Enlightened Tutor or protection for your Shared Fate).

If anyone else is interested in this idea, check out Bribery, Acquire, Grinning Totem, Knowledge Exploitation, Praetor's Grasp, and Eternal Dominion. I've built a silly deck using the last card as the only win condition here:

Thank you for your feedback~!

Wheel and Deal serves the sole purpose of eliminating any chance for reaction from the opponent, since otherwise you'd still have to be concerned about what s/he has in their hands. It is far from being the best way to eliminate the opponent' hand, but any other insanely effective card, like Thoghtseize, would also be effective against yourself.

Fellwar Stone is a great addition indeed. Undiscovered Paradise does become a wonder after Shared Fate is in play, since if basically serves only to the owner, but you're right - it slows you down.

I'll check out your deck :)

Thanks for your comment!

I'm still skeptical that a singleton Wheel and Deal is worthwhile. It only works once you have Shared Fate, but once you've tapped out for Shared Fate, you've given them a turn to cast their remaining cards in hand anyway. And if the deck works right, you will catch up and overtake them on the number of relevant cards quite quickly (and you still have Memory Lapse and Abeyance to interfere with them).

I think you could get some more deckspace by cutting some tutors/shared fates as well – I doubt you need 11 copies plus 8 very effective digging cantrips. I would consider something like -3 Idyllic Tutor, -1 Wheel and Deal, -2 Shared Fate, +2 Sterling Grove, +4 Remand or Condescend (which hinder your opponent while helping you dig for Shared Fate). Hinder (the card) is also worth considering just because it's so fun with Shared Fate. :)
