I like tragic slip more than Defile here, but it's a good suggestion and I'm kind of a noob. But if I need something too she too activate tragic slip, I can block with one of my creatures to guarantee a tragic slip.

As far as card draw, read the vines is a once and done sorcery, but I did find asylum visitor for card draw and I think I'll play test with two of those in the deck.

Yeah i liked this concept so much I had created a second deck based on the Simic Ascendancy win condition as well. But I need to throw in the Growth Spirals.

Happy Playing!

First- you don't wan a playset of a legendary creature since you can only put one out at a time.
Replace with a Sheoldred and It that Betrays.
Second- Your only red card is Faithless Looting. Since you're light on creatures, this card is garbage for you anyway. You'll be dumping instants and sorceries that you can't get back.
Replace with Putrid Imp.
Third- Now that you are only a black deck (white manas are creatures that will be played from your gy) fix your mana situation.
Unless of course you're just trying to make an expensive deck, idk.

replaced with trollbred guardian. this way you don't have to care about deathtouch or leaving yourself vulnerable after an attack and having to wonder how many blockers they'll use

removed 4x Benthic Biomancer- draw and discard wasn't used often

This isn't my deck. And I agree that it is not going to be consistent. I do think it is a neat card though and a neat idea that I haven't seen before.

If my creatures don't get blocked, damage goes through that's fine by me. My death touch blockers will hold off attackers. If my creatures do get blocked, each blocker will die before combat and my creatures will not. I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea. This is why I have odric as a redundancy. But I probably should take out 2 of him since alesha can't target him.
That being said, I agree with you that zurgo needs replaced. Any ideas?

Rulings: 2/25/2015 Living Lore’s last ability will trigger whenever it deals combat damage, no matter if that damage is dealt to an opponent, an opposing planeswalker, or a creature it’s blocking or being blocked by. You choose whether to sacrifice Living Lore as that ability resolves.

Are you thinking that's too many bc they are legendary? I guess I could take out an Alesha, but having either Odric or AnkleShanker is imperative to this deck.
This deck takes out creatures.
The deck is built around giving kessig and kolaghan deathtouch via Odric and Ankle Shanker for the pre-combat deathtouch kills (dealing 1 damage to a blocker will kill that blocker before combat due to deathtouch).
This is even cooler if I get to use Hordechief to make all opponent creatures block my deathtouch Kolaghan because then they lose all of their creatures.
Alesha could return Ankle Shanker, Kessig, Kolaghan, or my deathtouchers back to the battlefield in the event they die.
Zurgo is cool because he will either do a ton of damage or take out the rest of their creatures.

Nice deck! I found Kolaghan Aspirant and was trying to make a deck around it based on death touch. Pre-combat murder to any blocker. Combine with ankle shanker and brutal hordechief and profit!

i don't understand the SAC: land search cards. Why don't you take those out and just put in 8 more islands.... that way any time you would have drawn a "SAC:SEARCH FOR A LAND AND PUT IT OUT TAPPED" you get an untapped island that you can use that turn.

Traded out Negate for Death's Approach. Traded out Tormented Soul for Duskmantle Guildmage

Paradigm shift and demonic consultation are really good cards to completely eliminate your library using 1 or 2 mana. Throw in good transmutes to get anything into your hand and a couple 1 cmc counters. Check out some of the cards I threw in my self mill.

Thanks for pointing out Trepenation Blade Derago, any ideas what I could take out for it? The dual lands are great, but expensive and this is to show people that you can have a really nice budget budget deck. I have a couple of drowned catacombs I'm running this with though. I have some of the other cards you listed, but the repeat ability of unblockable cipher was what allured me to most of my choices.

Distress, Duress, The Rack would be good additions if you're still looking for cards to put in.

Looks good. To get your big guys out quicker you might need to ramp some mana though. To go for 60 cards you could check out Dark Ritual and maybe even a Liliana of the Dark Realms. I like this deck though, even took the Aegis Angel and put it into one of my decks just now. Check it and compare some of the creatures if you'd like. Thanks!

I wouldn't be opposed to throwing some more lifelink in there. I like drogskol reaver a lot he fixes my "rule of legendaries" situation with the Praetors as well, I think I'll put him in there. Thanks!
