Deck Description

Plays and aggro deck that quickly gets out of control. Lots of value due to growing creatures with protection and added benefits.

I already own the fetchlands since Khans came out (I'm a Modern player) and I bought the Hangarbacks early on. After rotation I wanted to play a deck I felt comfortable with, cause I don't like standard right now. This deck allowed me to play competitively, without investing hundreds of dollars on Jaces and Gideons that are everywhere, and really expensive.

Deck is really consistent and can recover from slow starts efficiently thanks to the flexibility of drops like Hangarback Walker and Endless One, Servant of the Scale does wonders with the rest of your creatures and a single Avatar of the Resolute can challenge even Dragons early on. The removal suite plays at instant speed (crucial in this meta) while progressing your game plan pretty efficiently.

How to Play

T1 Forest -> Hardened Scales/Servant of the Scale/Endless One
T2 Land/Forest -> Avatar of Resolute/Hangarback Walker/Endless One
T3 Land -> Managorger Hydra/Endless One (or two drops)

Afterwards you just keep playing threats and keeping mana open for your protections and removals, this deck is easy to play, and really rewarding for interacting with the opponent.

Use your instants only when needed to screw with the opponents math at combat. For example, I play Hardened Scales T1 followed by a Hangarback on T2. On T3 I play an Avatar of the Resolute and keep mana open to grow Hangarback in case of a Wild Slash/Fiery Impulse. My opponent plays a Mantis Rider and can't attack (due to Avatar being a 5/4), I pump Hangarback to 4, Untap and attack with both, he responds with Crackling Doom trying to get rid of my Avatar, but I Dromoka's Command my Hangarback getting rid of the Mantis and growing to 6/6 making him bigger and target for the Crackling, so he takes 5 and has to face 6 flyers next turn. You want those lines of play with the deck, Hangarback will grow on it's own due to collateral most of the time so try to be aggresive with him. Next turn he Silkwrap my Avatar, and play a Jace, I untap and play Shaman swing for 6 (he has to block with Jace) growing my army of flyers to 3/3's... GG.
