Deck Description

This deck is my lovechild of affordability. I've been working for months to peace together a deck the while affordable, is still viable at Friday Night Magic or small game local tournaments. If the Shock and Scry lands are taken out, this deck can easily be gotten on TCG for about $50, making it within the range of most players.

The premise of the deck is to pump enchantments onto a creature that is resistant to removal so that you can create a threat that soon becomes unmanageable for your opponent. The more enchantments you get out, the faster the creatures will ramp thanks to Eidolon of Countless Battles and Ethereal Armor. Unflinching Courage turns any creature into a steam roller and mitigates the need for blockers when you have lifelink flowing in every turn. Hunter's Prowess and Courser of Kruphix provide much needed card advantage that will keep your momentum up, and removal such as Pacifism and Selesnya Charm get rid of any threats your opponent tries to build up to outclass your own.

Gladecover Scout, Fleecemane Lion, and Witchstalker are obvious choices for a deck that is going to make large investments into one or two creature because of how difficult they can be to remove for a deck that isn't prepared for such threats. The final two creatures, Boon Satyr and Eidolon of Countless Battles are by far the strongest bestow creatures, and provide pseudo removal resistance by remaining on the board if the creature they are bestowed to somehow gets killed, allowing you to immediately start building a new creature on your next turn. Finally, Ajani, Caller of the Pride is perfectly suited for this deck with his +1 ability pumping your creatures further, and his -3 almost always pushing 10+ damage through, often resulting in a game.

In the sideboard we see color hate cards such as Fiendslayer Paladin and Mistcutter Hydra to ensure that you can get your momentum up against control power houses like B/R and Esper. Revoke Existence is present to break Detention Sphere's and Chained to the Rocks, while also taking care of Theros's ultimate chump blockers, the gods. God's Willing serves as a snipe counter and as pretend unblockable, plus a little extra card advantage never hurts. The only reason it's not in the main board is that It creates a serious Nonbo with enchantments when playing decks of the same or similar color. Finally we have Celestial Flare and Pithing Needle, necessary evils for any deck playing white. Celestial Flare is used as an answer to Stormbreath Dragon and Blood Baron of Vizkopa whilst Pithing Needle is important to take down the planeswalker threats of G/R Monsters, the win conditions of Esper, U/W, and American control, and the ever-present Pack Rat.

Keep in mind that this deck is not, and is not meant to be, a t1 threat, it is very much a t2 deck. that being said, I believe it is among the most viable t2 decks and can be competitive when the pool of opponents is much shallower. I've performed well in numerous FNM's, already having worked off what I payed for the deck by selling my booster pack draws. If you are looking for an affordable entry level deck that boasts big creatures that will smash small creature, this is the deck for you.
