With the mindstones you have 22 mana sources, but to cast any 5 cost asap, you will need at least 25 mana sources.Holding them back with darkness is an idea, but you will need more to stop the more aggressive designs

You know any good black/white ramp? i really only know of bubbling muck
There are a few old black creatures that can ramp.Theres blood pet, and there's a black sliver and two witches. All of them are pretty old cards.One of the witches might not be legal in modern.Using them as either blockers or ramp may be a way to help the deck, but more lands might be more foolproof.Theres bontu's last Reckoning and damnation that might also be able to replace some darkness.In old mill designs they usually had 2 damnation and 2 darkness in the sideboard and 2-3 ensnaring bridge in mainboard.Because of lurrus in mill, most millers are abandoning ensnaring bridge, so it might be cheap at the moment.
