Deck Description

This is a rehash of my old deck at:
http://www.mtgvault.com/s0rinmark0v/decks/purely-unbeatable/
Now designed to be more consistent by removing the mass of kill spells and adding a Turbofog mechanic.

How to Play

Fog and avoid damage until you can get out Melira and Phyrexian Unlife, then you win.... Almost.
Your main win-con from there is Aegis Angel and/or Avacyn, who (coincidentally [not really]) make your combo Indestructible!

Deck discussion for Purely Unbeatable 2.0

Why Fog again? I don't get it. There are dozens of variants of Fog out there and most of them are way better, even taking into account that they cost a bit more mana. Constant Mists, Respite, Moment's Peace, Tangle - all of them way better than Fog and still cheap enough to be put on a stick (Iso). Unlike that Riot Control BTW.

Also, you might be fine against creatures but you run zero artifact and enchantment removal which is kindof strange for a control deck with Howling Mine that aims for longer games where most players have seen more than half of their library.

i'd assume because fog is 1 mana and you only need to last till turn 3 if you have unlife and melira in your starting hand. after that you just ignore everything everyone else does until you avacyn/aegis and start swinging all out at everything that moves. at worst it'll be turn 9.

IF. Why does everybody always assume they get their god-hand every game? He runs Isochron Scepter which costs 2 to activate regardless of the cc of the card you imprint. I see no reason why you would run a regular Fog in a setting like this when there are clearly better alternatives. Also, if the casting cost of jus one mana was the deciding factor, then explain why he runs Riot Control which costs 3.

But I just saw the "Modern" tag and that may be the reason. I always thought "Modern" = "New card face" and therefore thought cards like Respite should be okay because they have been reprinted with the new card face, in the case of Respite in Conspiracy, but it still isn't legal in Modern for some reason.

riot is there for if you don't get god hand. elongate the game a bit but i'd still expect to see at least 1 copy of both by the time i can play avacyn. if i can't, shuffling needs to occur. and it's not like you have a contract to follow their list down to the card. replace it if you want.

Riot is worse than Respite, too, plust it doesn't fit on Iso.

I don't plan to build this deck, I came here because the author asked for reviews, that's all.

Let me solve the mystery for you all:

Like most "veteran" MTG players, I have had to memerise thousands of cards, their mana costs and abilities included. I start to design decks based on what I know and since I don't often play white or green and when I do it is normally mixed in with black, I don't really know much about the turbofog playstyle

Riot Control was added because IT GAINS YOU LIFE in case you have a bad game and can't draw cards. Since I'm not playing blue in here, I have to find alternate means of stalling until I can get the required cards.

Respite also gains you life on top of a Fog effect but is one mana cheaper and therefore fits on Isochron Scepter. And all suggested Fogs are better than vanilla Fog. That's what started the discussion.

I'll have a look when I get the chance. Thanks for the suggestions

I have always enjoyed playing Turbo Fog decks in casual settings and currently have a Tiny Leaders deck, (Jenara), and I find your deck interesting. and refreshing. You do not seem to have any answers to Discard and Bounce strategies, but Mill and Smallpox decks might not appear that often in the Modern Format. Ethereal Haze, Pollen Lullaby, and Dawn Charm may fit. Also if you every decide to add Blue - Sphinx's Revelation and Overrule would be helpful. Keep up the fresh ideas.

i hope your thinking this is a casual only deck. if your thinking playing this seriously; think about the color red, blue and white: burn, counterspells and path to exiles. if its a casual deck, this is a good way to make no friends.
