Sideboard (12 cards)

Artifacts (2)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

How to Play

Most critical cards are Fraying Sanity and Startled Awake. This two card combo can mill half their deck alone. Use counters and removal to maintain a clear board because there are NO creatures at all.

Deck discussion for Insane Mill (Budget)

With a title like Insane Mill, you immediately grabbed my attention.

I like this combo, and I think that, while not necessarily competitive in the current meta, Mill decks can be super fun if they go off, and this one has the potential to do just that. Abandoned Sarcophagus is an interesting choice... Do you find yourself cycling much in order for it to be useful? I suppose it allows you to deck cycle as well as be an extension of your hand.

Just for giggles, you could include a one-of of Fleet Swallower. I built a deck around that + Fraying Sanity, and when it goes off right, the, "fish slap" echoes through the LGS with such power! Besides, unlike my deck, you have enough control/counter magic to afford it. Besides, as the only creature in the deck, they most likely won't expect the reel big fish to come down!

Fish jokes aside, really like the deck. Good job! +1

Absolutely. This deck is seriously cool, and would kill in casual matches. One thing you might add is Traumatize, but it is of slightly higher cost, and the earlier you use it the better. Psychic Spiral wouldn’t be too bad, either, but you do seem to like pulling cards out of graveyards, so maybe not. Archive trap is also a little high-cost, but it costs nothing if you searched your library for anything this turn, which could be very useful. Maybe just consider these things for possible add-ons.

Traumatize is expensive, but brutal, maybe a one-of? I see the deck is tagged at Standard but is not standard-legal. Assuming you're not trying to stick to any particular format?

I agree this is not competitive by any means but it is fun! Abandoned Sarcophagus is awesome because there are 14 cards that have cycling and it doesn't require you to have cycled the card the just need to be "non-land cards WITH cycling". So playing AS basically opens up a whole new hand of cards to play from your graveyard. Which is great to be able to play Compelling Argument again to end a game or counter another spell with a Censor or even if your desperate for more cards you can use Hieroglyphic Illumination again.

I do like the idea of using Fleet Swallower as well. Only reason I didn't use it here is to provide more consistency because this deck can be very fast and keeping the mana costs low leaves room to counter things for more protection.

Glad you liked it man.

There are also a couple cards I just realized would be good: Dream Twist and Mind Sculpt, both amazing very low cost (in multiple ways) mills. I think these might improve the deck a little, it you were to add them.

I get why you have censor but it's just to slow for modern, spell pierce is just better. Drop the negates and scatters for mana leaks and another Countervailing Winds. Drop 1 Winds for another sarcophagus, having it as a one of with so many targets is odd. And Finally Baral's Expertise just strait out beats Engulf in this deck, being able to drop a sarcophagus, Fraying Sanity, or even Startled Awake right behind it is an insane tempo play and unless you're against tokens will more than likely to clear the board anyway.

Also 3 Relic of Progenitus is probably mandatory in the side, otherwise Dredge or Snapcasters will just eat you. One of over a Baral's in the main probably wouldn't hurt ether.

And if you don't mind spending just a little more Jace, Vryn's Prodigy could out right replace sarcophagus.

Speaking from experience, I hate this deck. Such a pain to play against. But all in all it is a well constructed deck. Stay golden pony boy
