Deck Description

An update of my ol' "unblockable" deck. It used to be all about shenanigans, and it still is; there /are/ better ways to play it (with a splash of control/counter-control), but that's not what the deck is about. It's about slapping Flail on unblockable creatures and then pumping them, catching all of the aggro in the game (always multi-player), likely losing, but sometimes devastatingly crushing opponents. Fun, but intentionally beatable, because fun.

Except for this version, I dropped most of the pump (:`-* good bye Soul Kiss) but kept Flail for some neat new tricks (explained below in "How to Play").

Note: This deck is MEANT to have a hard time winning if opponents have answers for the deck's threats. I've run versions of this that had all of its bases covered, and it just didn't fit in a casual fun environment--unblockable already isn't "fun" since it removes an element of interaction; effective counter control removes the last avenue of interaction opponents can take.

Having said that, it'd be disingenuous of me to suggest this deck "likes to lose." It doesn't; it can be downright absurd how powerful it is, even with a less-than-ideal hand. I'm just making note, that I am aware there are better cards for the deck, but I'm intentionally avoiding them because they're unfun ^-^

How to Play

Play unblockable creatures (now with some cheap fliers) to whittle away at opponents, employ neat tricks to out-tempo the decks only weakness: board control.

Tricks:
~Unblockable + Curiosity/Bident for reliable and sustained card draw.

~Blackguard to pump unblockable rogues; turns unblockable rogues into specters.

~Cloudfin for a 1-drop that earns counters before Blackguard hits the field (the failing of Blackguard--it has to be in play first, often doesn't happen until after a Curiosity or Bident happens, which means most of my unblockables are already out)

~Bident grants a lot of draw in an unblockable deck. I would run only one plus Coastal Piracy, but went with two Bident because....

~Obliterator + Flail:
...Bident forces opponents to attack (flail makes Obie take double damage; opponent sacs twice as many permanents when he blocks)
...Swing with Flail + Obliterator for 10
...Leave Obliterator untapped to discourage attackers (when not cheesing Bident)
...Swing with Flail + Obliterator for 10, trick opponents to swinging in since the big mean Obie is tapped down; flash Pestermite to untap and block.

~Otherwise, Inquisitor's Flail is less effective without pump, but still has a place:
...on weenies to make them sting a little harder (2)
...on Creeping Tar Pit for the win (6) or Pestermite for a viable threat (4)
...weenies swing for four after Blackguard
...reaaaally good on Thassa /if/ she has devotion

~Thassa might seem a conflicting pick for an otherwise unblockable deck, BUT:
...still scries during your upkeep
...a second beater /if/ devotion
...most importantly, makes fliers unblockable against other fly-heavy decks.
