Deck Description

This deck works a lot better if you swap out Scavenging Ooze for Skinshifter, but in the interest of making it as cheap as possible I cut it from the main list and relegated it to the sideboard.

Sick of Melira Pod players and their fancy, 'I can spend $15 on a card' ways? Well now its time to stick it to them. Before you is a deck which takes its win conditions and versatile cards and costs less than a pair of $40 headphones (but not a pair of $30 headphones :( ). One of the coolest parts about this deck is just how versatile it is. If you need some extra umph against control it plays like suicide black, relying on death's shadow to deliver a good, cheap beating. Yet unlike other decks which use death's shadow as a wincon, its just as good at keeping its life up without risky jank like Angel's Grace. This versatility alone makes this deck very, very hard to beat, even without switching it up with the sideboard.

But wait, it gets even better! At the heart of this versatile deck beats the very same Persist + Melira + Viscera Seer engine that makes Melira pod so risky. This means that its very, very plausible that you can eke out a shocking turn 3-4 win.

Seriously play this deck, it wrecks face.

Deck discussion for The Best $35 deck in Modern

Nice deck! But I would say adding more persist wouldn't be that bad of an idea. Perhaps Safehold Elite instead of Scavenging Ooze, that would cut down on the price quite alot. Since the deck is almost $35 above $35(look at the middle one).

I think I'm going to replace Ooze w/ skinshifter to bring the price down and put Scooze in the SB to let people know its the better alternative. Skinshifter is an underrated gem but its pretty useful.
