Deck Description

Mono-Black Control/Extraction

Main Deck:
- Early-game discard/forced sacrifice/kill cards. (Drainpipe Vermin, Gatekeeper of Malakir, Hymn to Tourach, Go for the Throat)
- Mid/Late-Game oppressive creatures. (Phyrexian Obliterator, Desecrator Demon)
- Mid/Late-Game milling/extraction. (Eradicate, Haunting Echoes, Surgical Extraction, Sands of Delirium)
- Late-game ultimate extraction. (Sadistic Sacrament)

Sideboard:
- Mid/Late-Game board clear. (Black Sun's Zenith)
- Late-Game life drain finisher. (Exsanguinate)
- Late-Game basic land extraction (Mishra's Groundbreaker + Eradicate).
- Standard kill card alternate. (Doom Blade)

My spin on an extremely oppressive mono-black control deck focused on giving your opponent as few options as possible.

Any and all comments/criticism welcome.

Deck discussion for MonoBlack Extraction

So...if I understand you correctly, your goal is to basically just take all the good cards out of your opponents library and leave them with crap?!...Thats great! This looks like maybe not the most competitive deck (but who knows) but it certainly looks like the most annoying thing ever to play against. I would run maybe one more of each desecration demon and phyrexian obliterator since thats going to be how you win most likely, but I guess it just depends on how fast you want to win. Nice Deck! +1

One thought that came to me right after I posted this: would you consider adding blue and kind of playing control and mill as well? I think that it would make this deck more competitive and maybe make less of your opponents angry (even if that is really fun). If you did you'd probably have to drop Phyrexian Obliterator, but anyway Good Luck!

I have made a more simplistic Blue/Black Extraction deck before using cards like Lobotomy and Circu in the past. It was pretty fun, but lacked the oppression and ramping speed of a mono-black deck since Dark Ritual, Cabal Coffers, Hymn to Tourach, and Gatekeeper of Malakir generally are only playable within a reasonable time frame in mono-black. Phyrexian Obliterator is also one of my favorite cards, ever, so keeping him in and being able to play him on curve was a self-imposed requirement for me.

Here's a link to a Blue/Black Control/Extraction deck I made for Modern a while back as another example: http://www.mtgvault.com/spippytheinsane/decks/modern-extraction/

I appreciate the feedback!

All of those decks looked solid, and I like the idea of all of them. The only thing I don't quite understand is the purpose of Caged Sun and Sands of Delirium. It doesn't look like you really have any other elements of mill, and caged sun just seems really expensive for the number of lands your playing.

The milling is to enable graveyard-based extraction. 2 card slots for consistent milling potential is quite efficient. Caged Sun is for milling as well as for the Sadistic Sacrament kicker. It also enables Exsanguinate as a finisher.
