Deck Description

I've been on an extraction kick lately, so I'm going to start it off with an adapted version of my Wither deck, Scar, to blast people's decks with huge "BitterBombs".

In short, this is a wither aggro extraction deck that can suddenly exile your entire deck 20 times over. =]

**Special thanks to my buddy Wumps for his help in making this deck**

Deck discussion for Bittersweet Symphony

Why do tou have a combo with Devoted Druid and Quilspike going on?

Infinite power/toughness is always sweet to have, and it gives me infinite tokens if I have Flourishing Defenses out, then I can hit all my tokens with BSZ and Bitter Ordeal someone's deck so hard it spontaneously combusts! =]

This is pretty neat man, and viciously brutal. I've always liked wither, never really been able to get it to work for me, but it's rocking out over here!

I didn't realize you had posted this already! Haha! I love it! Dude, the Devoted Quillspike combo is nice...

Got a little element of control in here as well I see... I like it! Funny thing is half this deck looks like a deck I posted a while back when I ordered a few Kulrath Knights.

http://www.mtgvault.com/EditDeck.aspx?DeckID=130957&DeckCardID=3361462 (if you wanna take a look)

Every suggestion I would make is already in the deck... Sorry I'm not much help here... Maybe Necropede since it's kinda like an advanced version of Fume Spitter?

Tatterkite/Melira's Keepers could be useful as well, especially if you squeezed in Everlasting Torment?

Hey surewhynot,

Nice deck. Reminds me a little of my Infinite Life Gain & Loss Legacy Deck that uses Devoted Druid and Quilspike with Rite of Consumption for Infinite Life Gain for me and Infinite life loss for opponent.

So may be add Rite of Consumption to your deck so you too can have Infinite Life Gain & Loss.

Also my deck only needs 3 mana to make infinite life.

Nomads en-Kor (W) or Shuko (1) + Daru Spiritualist (1W) + Starlit Sanctum (W for Tap abilty) or Swords to Plowshare (W)

What would you do with infinite life?

Check it out my deck at Deck link: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=134843

Well that's the thing, I don't really need infinite life in this deck. Just flat-out aggro with random deck shredding BitterBombs =]

That's a cool trick though.

Won't doubling season kill your devoted/quillspike combo, or does quillspike get priority on the removal of the counter?

0
Posted 06 March 2011 at 20:14

It kills either way. Even with priority, the combo inherently can't keep up. (Tap, 2 counters, instantly remove 1, tap, 2 more, remove 1...still dead).

However once DS is out the game is already won. You can't beat this deck once it hits the field.

I am lovin this deck I can't think of a deck that might put a stand up to this with a perfect draw. I play tons of tokens my latest deck (Got tokens?) Couldn't stand up to this with your combos I admire that you were able to have a decimation deck no elves or anything can survive this GREAT JOB! The only card I might add just for fun on your side would be fangren marauder its a little costly but funny if you play a myr deck or other artifact deck INFINITE HEALTH!! :)

Funny story with that. Today a new kid at my local shop comes in with a list in his hand and starts asking the owner for the various cards. The cards he's naming off sound familiar...so I ask him what the list is and he says "Some guy on a magic website made this crazy deck, I wanna try it."

So I extend my hand and say "Surewhynot, at your service."

I think the kid shat himself. XD

Yeah, he was a cool kid actually, and had a lot of good questions. The store owner is happy too, he got a new customer =P

We played a couple nice casual games, but no EDH. If there's one thing I still need to master, so to speak, it's definitely EDH...I only have one deck! =[

I tried to build an EDH, and it had been working pretty well... Until somebody told me Kokusho was banned.

I don't understand why Kokusho is banned from EDH. makes me sad :( I was thinking of using him as my general

0
Posted 11 March 2011 at 10:07

Recurring mass life shift in a game style where life shifts are game-changing (due to the inherently slower style of EDH) and re-usability is one of the most powerful tactics.

0
Posted 12 March 2011 at 00:13

Sure is right, a normal game of EDH has about four-five people in it, by setting him down and sacrificing him even, you're shifting 15 life. And due to the fact that there's sooo many broken ways to get mana, you can just keep shifting every turn.

The only banned card I don't understand, is Braids. She does nothing to break the game, she just kills things...

0

Massive mana storage and acceleration inherent in black allows you to get her out fast and keep bringing her out. Usually she could be brought out fast enough to make the players choose land they need, something else the really need, or their general. Now, from what I've heard it wasn't so much that she was too good (she was a powerful general, but not OP), it was that she wasn't casual friendly...and EDH is a casual style.

As for Rofellos, I completely get why he was booted. Holy crap.

So how consistant is this deck? You have some weird numbers in here, and I'm wondering if that's through careful playtesting and is now perfected or just numbers you started with.

Looks really good, and mean, which you seem to be trying to accomplish right now. :P

Hey man, i have a question
If you steal a 1/1 creature with necroskitter then use BSZ, you dont get the creature again, right? because necroskitter only steals stuff under opponents control...

btw using cauldron haze on dying enemy 1/1s with necroskitter out is really funny. Although BSZ does similar thing.

Cool deck :)

0
Posted 11 July 2011 at 05:07

Correct. This deck is a constant cycle of creatures dying, being put into play, and changing control. It's really something you have to keep track of.

0

This is a great deck man, truly awesome.

But I have a question: When you crank out enough elf tokens with Flourishing Defenses, then you hit them with BSZ, would you create more tokens because all of the elves got -1/-1 counters and the BSZ effect would happen again or would it just be a one time hit?

Proxy is a form of flattery, so once I make my own, I'd appreciate a look at my version.

0
Posted 30 July 2011 at 23:25

BSZ with Flourishing Defenses does indeed make even more tokens. If I pay more than 1 for the X in BSZ it gets really crazy...

Let's say I have 5 tokens and play a BSZ where X is 3 and there's 5 other creatures out.

First I put a -1/-1 on all my tokens and the 5 other creatures, then I put out 10 tokens, put a -1/-1 counter on those, put in 10 more/new tokens, etc. This would end up giving Bitter Ordeal a "grave storm" effect of around 30-40 depending on other factors. That's enough to flat-out win in almost every case...

With Doubling Season the effects are exponential =P
