Deck Description

Yeah, I'm sort of ripping off my buddies deck's name, but what better name for a Golem tribe?

Deck discussion for Tin Soldiers

If your going to run Precursor golem, have some nice buff cards - especially in a GW deck. Giant growth, whilst not being the best G buff, is amazing with precusror golem. If you are going standard, you already have most of the good golem cards, but their are a few other ones in legacy - like Archbound reclaimer and archbound overseer, who can get a artifact back from your graveyard. Obvioulsly, you have one of the best golems ever in standard, blightsteel collosus, who can be included even without the focus on infect. You have a good idea going!

Precursor Golem lets you pull off an Ancestral Recall imitation with cards like Bandage or Irresistible Prey.

Precursor in this deck is absurd. People will always make the "it lets the enemy kill all your doodz too easy!" argument. Sure, this can happen, but you can also pay 'G' to make every golem you own get +8/+8! That's insane.

I'm on your side, mate, that's why I'm saying put some single-target cantrips in there! Vines of Vastwood is also a good choice for protecting and buffing all your golems.

Although I didn't notice you were going standard, so there might not be a good choice of cantrip in GW, I dunno. But I still recommend Vines of Vastwood over Mutagenic Growth, given the potential need of a 'green counterspell' when a precursor golem is out.

Have you considered dropping in withstand death. On its own merit is pretty average but with precursor it can become a game winner. You can drop a day of judgement (or your opposition can seeing as you don't have any) and this will keep your guys running while clearing the board for an alpha strike that will most likely end the game. It can also save you from people using targeted removal to clear you out, or can just give you a free swing forcing a mass block opening the way for killer blow next turn .

Well that's my 2 cents any how.

While I am here can you take a look at the deck idea I am currently working on. I am sick of the current meta, locally there are only 2 deck types being run by the regulars (mono white tokens and U/W control) and I want to stir things up a bit. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

While looking through the New Phyrexia spoiler I was mulling with the idea of a green Golem deck, but green white looks like a better direction :)

I'd use Vines of Vastwood instead of Mutagenic Growth, but that mite just be me being my usual "do things differently" point of view :p

Splash blue for rite of replication. With Precursor that's just hilarious =)

I really hate doing this, because you probably get quite a few of them that you just don't look through, but could you skim my deck and give some critique/criticism? I'm on a fairly tight schedule to get these cards in time to play my group of friends. Any bit of advice is welcome, be it big or almost insignificant. I feel you could be the best help since you've made a golem deck.

precursor is a sideboard card because the into the roil lightning bolt and doom blade destroy/return all your golems. always cool but why so many things there give mana

Hey, try sideboarding Conversion Chamber and something like Naturalize/Creeping Corrosion in this deck, should be a laugh for those artifact heavy decks that keep coming out.

i cant remember its name but there is a new green card which for 1 gives ur dude hexproof and +1/+1. with precusor golem that would be mad an amzing 2 for 1 to keep your boyz alive and pumped

That would be Ranger's Guile.
Ranger's Guile G
Instant
Target creature you control gets +1/+1 and gains hexproof until end of turn

That's funny. I just made a Golem-centered standard deck. Could you look at it?

Hahaha, not gonna lie, Zend was a very good block =]

I should go through this and see if there's any changes I could make...I haven't looked at this thing (or played it for that matter) in a long time...I should, because it is a fun one =/

i think we can all agree Zendikar was on the best blocks to come through:) And i do think this is worth a revisit, as most of it is Scars block, and the few Zendikar u would have to take out could easily be replaced by new innistrad cards. Plus it looks like it could kick a**.

Damn, I built a similar deck yesterday and I thought I was being original, and damned if today your isn't on the front page =( . What do you think of a privledged position to keep a cascade of lightning bolts wrecking your golems?

P.S. I feel like a total tool doing this, but It seems the only way to get people to look at my deck, as I have 0 likes views or comments lol. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=269433 . I think Solemn Simulcarum is a good add, with your cobras he'd bring you one 1 mana and one physical mana, plus he's a golem and gets your splicer buffs

You should standardize this deck it would be a good deck like how it or if it was standard, I have just never seen a standard Golem deck. Might I suggest Titan Forge?

Oh hey, I remember this deck! And now it's on the front page which makes my precursor golem deck (inspired by another front page deck...) look even more like a ripoff! :P

It's actually quite different from either of these, since it's UW. I'd love it if you'd take a look =)
