Karakas is banned in commander. I used Progenitus as commander for my theros deck, seeing it as the thematical Titan to my Greek Pantheon.
Ah. I don't really play Commander and don't check all the banned cards often enough. But I can see why it is banned.
Runed Halo and Giedon's Intervention can protect you from Karona without accidentally killing her.
