Deck Description

Cycling is back!

How to Play

This is a cycle/discard deck. With the addition of Ikoria, cycling is back as a mechanic. The looting mechanic is very versatile when it comes to building. You can focus on recursion or card draw.

I made a Standard version with a similar shell, but think this deck works much better with Pioneer's card pool. The black is splashed just for a few sideboard cards.

Collective Defiance and Fateful Showdown are the MVP's (MV...C's?). They are essentially Wheel's and if you have Buccaneer or Adept on the field, your opponent is in for a bad time.

Hollow One comes down free more often than not. Contemplated putting Phoenix in here, but don't think I have enough small spells to recur them every turn.

Cycle lands work great with Sarcophagus. Also works great with Hollow One, since it has cycle on itself.

Lightning Axe works removal and triggers your discard payoffs.

Sideboard-wise, I have a few ways to switch up your tactics. Sweltering Suns to deal with token/swarm decks. This works great because it only hits 2 out of 5 of your creatures. From Under the Floorboards to swarm on your end (discard it to one of your cheap spells, sink mana for tokens). Violent Impact mainly for Lotus decks. Shredded Sails for artifacts (and flyers...less relevant, but still has it's moments). And without weakness for targeted removal.
