This deck is built on the Heroic mechanic: "When our heroic creatures are targeted with a spell, some effect will proc which involves giving that creature a +1/+1 counter"A number of cards have the heroic mechanic or double strike. After growing these cards with +1/+1 counters, the double strike creatures can become crazy dangerous real fast!In particular, the Phalanx leader gives EVERYONE a +1/+1 counter when he's targetting which is nice if you already have double striker creatures (fencing ace or Fabled Hero) in play already.A number of cards are used to target our creatures:- Flames of the Firebrand (this can target up to 3 of our creatures by damaging them each with 1 point of damage. Note you can target the Phalanx Leader who's a 1/1 for 1 dmg, as his heroic trigger will proc 1st, making him a 2/2 who will then survive the 1 point of damage coming his way).- Martial Glory (targets 2 creatures).- Gods Willing (targets and gives protection - useful for defense or punching through)- Gift of Orzhova (flying, lifelink and +1/+1).- Dauntless Onslaught (targets 2 creatures).- Boros Charm (either to protect from board wipes or target a creature during combat to give it double strike and trigger heroic as a surprise!).
Turn 1:- Plains- Boros Elite.Turn 2:- Plains- Phalanx Leader.- Attack with the Boros Elite for 1.Turn 3:- Mountain- Fabled Hero.- Attack with the Boros Elite and Phalanx Leader for 2Turn 4:- Plains- Cast Flames of the Firebrand targeting Phalanx Leader, Fabled Hero and lastly a 1 toughness creature on your opponents side killing it. - The act of targetting with the Flames of Firebrand will proc 2 Heroic Triggers:- Fabled Hero gets a +1/+1 counter (1st heroic trigger).- Phalanx Leader gives everyone a +1/+1 counter (2nd heroic trigger).- Attack with the 4/4 Boros Elite (Battalian triggers), 2/2 Phalanx Leader and 4/4 Fabled Hero (double strike) for 14.- Keep a spare white mana open to protect your creatures with "God Willing".Turn 5:- Cast Martial Glory targetting the Fabled Hero with +3/+0 and the Phalanx Leader with +0/+3. This procs both their heroic triggers.- Fabled Hero gets a +1/+1 counter (1st heroic trigger).- Phalanx Leader gives everyone a +1/+1 counter (2nd heroic trigger).- Cast Gods Willing on the Fabled Hero giving him protection from [G/W/R/B/U] depending on your opponents deck colours. (Lets assume Green!).- Fabled Hero gets another +1/+1 counter (3rd heroic trigger).- Attack with the 5/5 Boros Elite (Battalian triggers), 3/6 Phalanx Leader and 10/7 Fabled Hero (double strike and protection from X) for 28!
