Alternate Deck Name: "Where's the Boggles?"

So this is a project I wanted to engage in- To make a set of 10+ super-budget 60-card decks that are simple, relatively easy to play, relatively easy to understand, and bring across the fundamentals of how Magic Works. We've since gone way past 10, with tons more in the works, and I've really enjoyed the challenge of trying to make these decks easy to play and understand, fun, and all under a $15 budget, sideboard included.

The main goal here is that you could easily build these deck for a low cost and use them as an easy introduction to how magic works, to teach a group of new players both how to play, and give them a sense of Why, a sense of what fun things they're getting into. These decks aren't gonna be particularly good, or even legal in any particular format if it stops me from including a card I think is good for the deck, but they should be fun and interesting without being too hard to get into. They should be an easily-accessible example of how fun Magic: The Gathering can be.

Welp, we knew it had to happen sometime: It's an Aura deck Y'all! The good news is that it has 8 copies of '1G- enchant creature, enchanted creatures gains Hexproof and some evasion', which is super sweet in this kind of deck. The bad news is that the deck is still gonna probably be too jank to come together very often. Oh well, that's the fun of casual magic, right?

As for budget: Maindeck cost is currently at about ~$10.50 (according to the middle blue numbers on this very site under estimated value), sideboard at about ~$2, nicely in-budget for us.

How to Play

So mostly this section is going to be notes on why I think these are good cards to learn from:

Your creatures to enchant are Hero of Iroas, Champion of the Flame, and Aura Gnarlid. Gnarlid gets real hard to block, but doesn't need enchantments on it specifically to grow, Champ has trample and grows faster, and Hero reduces the cost of your Auras, which is real nice, though I've since really been trying to cut down the Auras' costs, so you're not gonna get a ton out of it.

Alpha Authority and Canopy Cover are your protection Auras, and the most important ones in the deck- without them, you just loose to removal spells. Plus, they're your primary forms of evasion as well.

Furor, Sixth Sense, and Vigilance are all meant to be cheap auras that provide utility while your creatures mostly buff themselves- Furor forces you to attack as a downside, which isn't great, but If you put it and Vigilance on the same creature, you mostly balance out.

Sixth Sense relies heavily on either trample or evasion to make it actually draw you cards, but can optimistically help your stay fueled up.

And, finally for Auras, Unflinching Courage is your top-end, gaining life, hella stats, and trample. Good for a finisher.

The last 6 cards are removal spells- Searing Spear and Puncturing Light, to help interfere with your opponents' aggressive plays and help you make your own.

Manabase is meant to be a touch lacking, but also super-budget. Look, you try to build a 3-color mana base for less than $2, it's gonna suck, alright? That's the name of the game with budget 3-color manabases.

As for the sideboard, this IS supposed to be a sideboard they learn how to use, to make their deck perform better in the right matchups, or just in general to customize their decks within constraints.

Pyroclasm is dangerous because it hits all of your units if they aren't backed up by an Aura, but it's also all you've got as far as really getting ahead of agro, so you board it in when you have to and occasionally loose something important to it.

Reprisal is for the opposite situation- they're playing too big of creatures, so you need answers for big, powerful bodies.

And the rest is customizing your Aura package- Extra Furor to go faster, 3 copies of Lifelink if you just need to gain more life, Messenger's speed if Courage doesn't give you trample fast enough, and Battle Mastery in case you need a higher ceiling for power. Finally, a card that really uses Hero of Iroas's cost-reduction.
