Deck Description

Hello community!
Thawing Glaciers has allways been one of my favorite cards.
For a long time a had the goal to make a deck that plays Thawing Glaciers as the most important card in the deck.
With this casual deck i tried to accomplish this goal.
This deck is by no means finished.
I need YOU (at this point you should imagine uncle Sam pointing at you) to give me some suggestions!
Thanks :D

How to Play

The goal is to get Thawing Glaciers, Stone-Seeder Hierophant and Lotus Cobra into play. When you have all of those in play you should be able to play all your Lands. To kill the opponent you use Banefire or Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

Deck discussion for Casual Thawing Glaciers

WOW, that is only a 5 card combo, that's pretty awesome! cancel serves to protect your combo really well, the combo itself thins your deck so your very likely to draw a the win con!

I can only really suggest sideboard cards, or legacy staples. . . . .but as this deck is casual you don't really need a sideboard...

why do you say this deck is not finished?

First of all thank you for the comment! The first reason i say this deck is not finished is that i am not sure about the mana base. I don't have alot experience in deckbuilding and because of that i don't really know how to build a good manabase for this deck. The second reason is that i am not sure if i should have 4 Banefire and 4 Comet Storm in the deck.
I was also thinking about lowering the amount of Eladarmi's Call, Sylvan Scrying and Crop Rotation.
It would be nice to know about some cards i might have missed that would fit in this kind of a deck.
Last but not least i was thinking about removing the Cancel in favor of Rebuff the Wicked since i think Stone-Seeder Hierophant seems to me the only part of the combo that is in need of protection.(maybe i am wrong with that assumption)
If you have any suggestions for the sideboard i would highly appreciate that!
:D

With this site the manna base is easy, work out how many lands you have that produce a colour, work out your total land, have a look at the manna symbol occurrence thing on the sidebar of the page, just below the manna cost graph, work out the % of the manna symbol occurrence in the deck, then match those percentages to your manna base!

Well people can try and counter your counter early, before you have much of a base to deal with it, something like guttural response it good for dealing with a deck like that.

pithing needle nerfs planswakers, so having that in a side would help...thats all i can think of SORRY!

Edit: Ah! but I see you are considering the 1UU manna cost of cancel, and seeing as you combo into the red that methord doest really work for you!..

@_@

Nope without play-testing this deck I'm not sure i can help D:, what do you get screwed on most often...do you feel like its the red that lets you down?

I was thinking about adding Final Fortune to speed the combo up. I put it in the sideboard for now so that i dont forget it. :)
Tell me what you think!

I decided to remove Cancel in favor of Rebuff the Wicked. I also added 4 Kitchen Finks to the sideboard since i think that this is a good creature card versus aggro decks. If you have any Ideas how to improve this deck i would appreciate it if you would make some suggestions! I would really like to make this deck work.
Thx alot! :D

It would be a great idea to change your land base a bit. I would highly suggest Temple of Plenty, Temple of Abandon, and Temple of Triumph X4 each . This would allow you to get your plays consistently because of scrying into your combo faster. Secondly your creature base, understanding what your intentions are with the deck have no gas to keep you, The Planeswalker, alive long enough to get it going. Supreme Verdict would kill you! Find some way to give your creatures some protection like Rootborn Defenses is a great sideboard option for it and finally I would suggest Cyclonic Rift to give your minions some evasion for damage to go to the opponent's head. Just a few thoughts.

Courser of Kruphix would be sweet in this one as well. It thins out your deck of lands and keeps the deck going..I would place a 3 of in this deck..2 main 1 sideboard

I think adding the temples to this deck would be a little bit counterproductive since Thawing Glaciers only searches Basic Lands . Im going to think about Rootborn Defenses and Courser of Kruphix ! Thanks for the suggestions! :)

I would suggest trying to fit in Cosi's ravager, or at least side board it. stone seeder is an awesome fit for thawing glaciers as well. well done. :)

or for other possibilities perhaps steppe lynx.

dang. after looking at this you have inspired me to build a similar deck.

Thanks for the suggestions! I am going to think about how to fit Cosi's Ravager and Steppe Lynx in the deck, they both seem to be great additions with their landfall ability!
Im glad i could inspire you :)

So i removed 4 Comet Storm and 1 Crop Rotation to add 1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and 4 Gitaxian Probe.
Gitaxian Probe seems to be an awesome card to check the hand of the opponent before you try to combo and you draw a card of it.
I added Emrakul, the Aeons Torn just as an alternative win condition. Soon i will get to tedt this deck so stay tuned for updates.

Emrakul is also an excellent anti-mill card as well.

Ok i removed 3 lands and added 3 Sylvan Caryatid for early defense. I cut the 3 lands because i just need 21 lands to do 20 damage with Banefire. Im not really sure if Sylvan Caryatid was the right choice for the 3 free spots since i allready have 2 mana drops bu no 1 mana drop. Let me know what you think! :)

carri is a really good dork, just because its so hard to get rid of! and you really do have to add dorks if you getting rid of manna. . .
