Deck Description

Necrotizing Fasciitis
WARNING: do not google the name of this deck if you are the type that easy gets queasy.

as i typically like to think outside the box, the idea for this came to me when coming across a fast paced life gain deck, which made it virtually impossible to kill my opponent with damage.

enter, poison. poison is the honey badger of magic the gathering. poison is nasty and doesn't give a shit how much life you have, because once a player has 10 poison counters, they die, regardless of how much life they have.

this deck is still in the testing phase. suggestions and comments welcome! id love to hear your opinions.

How to Play

most of your creatures come preequiped with infect, which is your kill move with this deck. the deck can kill a player rather quickly because 10 poison counters is effectively half the amount of life you generally need to swing for.

play psionic gift or equip viridian longbow onto your creatures with infect. now you can target either your opponent or his creatures and essentially rot their flesh off, hence the name of the deck.

rings of brighthearth will let you pump up your pokes and prods by duplicating them, poisoning your opponent and his creatures more quickly.

defense is handled primarily by the infect and wither effects of your creatures, but necroskitter is your primary defender. he can't put poison counters on your opponent, but hes got decent toughness, and weakens whatever he hits, between his own stats, and your targeted -1/-1 counters, there shouldn't be much you can't handle.

spread out the counters and use a couple proliferate cards in there to liven....errr sorry, "deaden" up the party, which also adds another poison counter on your opponent if he's already got one.

it really doesn't matter how big a creature is, you can eventually bring down a monster of pretty much any size, and you never have to worry about regenerators, because having 0 toughness just makes creatures fall over and die.

as it is with most timmy decks, pemmin's aura on anyone that can poke enemies, lets you do it repeatedly, as well as enables you to protect them from harmful spells.

cast and replicate gigadrowse on your creatures equipped with livewire lash, and rack up the poison counters!

bring kulrath knight into play to lock down all enemy creature's you poked.

I like the idea. Especially Flensermite is so underused card. It is pretty good drop for 2, especially for deck like this.
I might even create my own variation about this deck. Is it ok?

Instead of Perplex, Corrupted Resolve may be way better since the only thing you cam transmute for is the Rings or Pemmin's Aura. You have a more effective counterspell, as well as it being very cheap. Since you're pinging for 1 you'll always meet it's prerequisite one way or another. Livewire Lash instead of Memory Plunder, since Memory Plunder is an extremely odd card for this deck. If they target a creature with Livewire Lash equipped they automatically take 2 damage his/herself or one of his/her creatures do. Contagion Engine instead of Contagion Clasp? Since it pretty much gaurantees a field wipe when you proliferate it. Hope I help at all.

livewire lash sounds great! i didn't even know about that card. and corrupted resolve would be much better. i kept contagion clasp in because of the cheaper mana cost. i feel like you'd be able to kill off your opponent before you'd get engine out.

Very cool deck! I was thinking of something like this with Fallen Ferromancer but this is way better.

Cool. I have a deck with a similar concept. No one lets me play with it anymore. :)
I love how you worked the control in here as well. Very good usage of counters. Well done.

Does Illusionist bracers do anything in this deck I mean can they work with the infect?

0

yes they can. I opted to use rings instead because they can be used multiple times per turn by paying mana

I see I also thought about that inkmoth nexus might be pretty handy as well

Just to be annoying, this is more a Johnny (combo) deck than a Timmy (Stompy) deck. Let me rephrase that, this is an EXTREMELY Johnny deck and as a fellow Johnny I applaud you.

i am not familiar with johnny or timmy, but as a really old school player, "tim" was slang for prodigal sorcerer in my day.

I like your infect style, but I highly prefer my more direct approach... http://www.mtgvault.com/masterless/decks/death-by-infection-2/
its fast its mean and its virtually unstoppable. Im not sure why more people dont play infect...

Because it is still fairly new, and doesn't mesh super well with many other blocks outside of Scars?

infect is a really powerful skill and a direct approach is really brutal. but my approach here was aiming for flexibility, letting you pick and choose what you want to kill

Welp. You've done it again. Another (relatively) cheap, awesome, unconventional deck. If I hadn't already spend an absolutely excessive amount of money on magic this month alone, I'd buy it in an instant.

Hello! I awlays thought infect was a cool thing to play with, and I like your take on it! Since it looks like you know what you are doing, I was wondering if you could check out my own infect deck and tell me what you think of it?
The link is < http://www.mtgvault.com/amberoth/decks/unscrupulous-demise/ > if you are interested. Again, nice job!
