Deck Description

This version exploits the eldrazi ingest creatures a lot better than version 1 where I tried to "cheat" my way around ingest.

It does have some interesting cards, but also some problems.

Murk strider is more or less an eldrazi version of brazen borrower.
It might be powerfull with discard.

Ulamog's reclaimer is really nice at getting ins/sor back but this deck have no room for any.

Lots of nice cards but something needs to go.
Perhaps you have suggestions ?

Deck discussion for Eldrazi ingest v2

Would bident of thassa/reconnaissance mission be good, for late game gas? Is fathom feeder enough, and if you want to keep the eldrazi synergy there is deepfathom skulker.

I'd say at least 9 "ingestion cards" sort of like bogles need about 9 creatures.
Most people will probably not block fathom feeder early, so misty intruder and pyxis of pandemonium sort of covers the rest.

I'll place the suggestions in the sideboard to take a crack at the deck one day.
I've begun to think It's good to keep record of ideas like this. If anything one day starts to support ingest I know I can find it by hitting searches for ingest within my own decks.

A longterm project will be to do this for every mechanic.

seems very heavy on the 4 drops. ulamog's reclaimer just seems like a 5 mana do nothing card in this deck as you dont really have many instant or sorcery cards to get back except 2 thoughtseize- and by turn 5 (assuming you curve out) thoughtsieze is most likely not that good of a card anymore. I'd personally cut all of those, get another wasteland strangler and go all in on the thoughtsiezes so you have a higher chance of having it on turn 1. Don't really love oracle of dust either for similar reasons- mindmelter seems better even though it doesnt draw you cards- because it does represent a form of card advantage and is evasive and costs 2 less. Ive played with nullifier before (didnt like it haha) and especially in this deck i feel like its a little weird as it forces you to need to hold up 4 mana to MAYBE use it. If there are specific spells you're worried about- you're probably better off going with a cheaper counter like dispel or negate so you can still play cards on your turn. though in leu of that, I'd just take out nullifiers in favor of more mist intruders.

Those are just my thoughts for trying to optimize it though I understand you're going for a theme. good luck with it!

I agree with you on that it needs more cheap spells to interact with the opponent

When I first sought after cards for it I actually thought I would turn up with nothing.
But I dug in deep, and managed to find the time period in mtgvault where standard eldrazi was played, and it had a number of interesting cards to support the decktype.
The key is to use devoid spells to keep the theme going, and it turns out that the designers have built up a sort of swarm shell of cards for ingest.

The ingest creatures costs between 1-2 mana, but I started out ignoring the ones without evasive abilities.

Turns out there is a series of devoid spells that boosts creatures, like +2/+0 and first strike to all eldrazi and stuff like that. It was a concept that I didn't see myself, but the standard meta fully explored it.

I'll do some more groundwork and post a third deck.

there's definitely a deck there somewhere, my guess is though is that it probably needs help from another theme or archetype to supplement. Ingest has mill qualities etc, or can lean into just colorless or something. but interested to see v3

I'm working on it :)
The standard format managed to create a pretty nasty design before the rotation of the format.
What's interesting about the time period is that they favoured the ingest builds rather than just going large with all the eldrazi available.

The most interesting question to remain is why the formats outside standard didn't try to hard at building ingest when it was the favorite in standard.

I'm going to post one design but with a lot of alternatives placed in the sideboard.

I was playing standard at the time, at least in the early portion of the meta. I remember a mono-green eldrazi ramp deck running world breaker being the favored one competitively at least when i was playing- i do remember a deck that ran wasteland strangler appeared I think after i had stopped for a bit, but dont have any experience with it in person so dont remember what the deck played other than that. I played colorless eldrazi at the time also while also and had a pretty good win rate where reality smasher and TKS and ulamog were my main beaters. I also had a budget r/u eldrazi build I never took to events, which had ingest creatures but it was more a side consequence of the build than anything. I was mostly leaning on ghostfire blade and nettle drone in that one if i remember correctly. Not sure if that helps. I'm sure a lot of decks ran ingest stuff though out there.

I love Eldrazi so much . but I think this deck needs more cards with ingest maybe a benthic infiltrator? ruination guide and salvage drone?
