Enbantments

by Xeras on 27 July 2016

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (15 cards)

Creatures (8)

Sorceries (4)

Enchantments (3)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

If enchantress exists in standard I force it. I might not like the current standard meta but if an enchantress type deck exists that has the potential to be not terrible I want to force it.

How to Play

This deck abuses the interaction between Oath of Jace and Starfield of Nyx. Between them your win conditions are Sigil of the Empty Throne, Sphinx's Tutelage and the Starfield itself once you get enough out.
Buy time with cards like Encase in Ice for those pesky Sylvan Advocates. Silkwrap, Imprisoned in the Moon, Stasis Snare, Suppression Bonds and Quarantine Field are your spot removal.

I'm splashing green for Tamiyo simply because I don't know what else to put in that slot.

Deck discussion for Enbantments

Nice deck. Tamiyo's great but I'm not sure she fits in this deck. You could replace her with more removal and enchantments perhaps?

I don't know, I'm already 4 of 3 different removal enchantments plus the Encase and Suppression Bonds. What would you replace Tamiyo with?

Maybe another Sigil for more Angels, perhaps another land and another quarantine field too?

+1! I like Tamiyo here (each one of her abilities works in your favor), but maybe 2 instead of 3 considering she's so hard to cast. Also, I'm not sure about the effectiveness of 4 Sphinx's Tutelage. It's a great card, don't get me wrong, but not sure there is quite enough of a draw base to justify 4.

Have you looked into Herald of the Pantheon? A cheap enabler for you that will keep you alive till you can get the sweet enbantments out (love the pun btw)

Have fun building!

I'm not sure how I feel about 4 Sphinx's Tutelage and 7 win conditions that support it in no way. I think I'd rather play anticipate.
Besides that I think it's really good.

It was mostly something to put in that slot since I didn't know what else to play. Basically it is an enchantment with an effect.:P

Maybe sideboard in Day's Undoing? Doesn't proc Sphinx's Tutelage though. Also, I don't see the point of Tamiyo if most of your opponent's creatures are going to be stalled AND you have no creatures. Jace would probably be better in the long run, or if you're willing to run creatures Reflector Mage and Spell Queller are good picks.

I agree. I might also put in another Sigil, because... 4/4 angels!!

Amen to that.

By the way, if you like trolling...Permeating Mass.

I'm just not sure how I feel about 4 sigils, they're fun and all, but just 1 is enough to win the game. Usually when I force enchantress in modern 2 is the correct number to play, so I figured that I would try 3 in standard.

+1 just for the name. decent standard deck also
I do agree with others are saying about Sphinx's Tutelage though. :)
Also, are there any board wipes in Standard atm because they could be quite useful

Why no full four Herald of the Pantheon? Also Encase in Ice isn't the best main board especially if everyone is going to be playing Bant Coco.

I mean, encase in ice deals with Sylvan Advocate, Duskwatch Recruiter, and Tireless Tracker, and the variations of some slots are Lambholt Pacifist, Bounding Krasis and Flip Nissa. Seemed like not a bad filler.
The reason there's only 3 is because he dies to everything, doesn't even trade with most creatures that are played and is really just a cute addition that synergizes well with enchantments but probably doesn't actually accomplish anything since it doesn't draw cards.

the deck is cool! Though I do worry that with only 23 land you can often find yourself screwed with 5 drops in hand.... has this come up in testing?

What about Lunar Force? seems like a broken Combo with Starfield once you get it going.

probabaly only two. cutting silkwrap and putting wrap back in their place when you play some kind of humans deck.

i would run ghostly wings for some seriously underrated tech.with starfield you can do some fun stuff enchanting other players problem creatures then discarding an enchantment you dont want to pay the cost of and then play it next turn with starfield..also when you return the wings from your graveyard you can enchant a creature with hexproof or shroud.exploiting auras has some really fun and brutal outcomes not to mention a breath of fresh air at your local fnm.also maybe consider a sigardas aid if you do decide on more auras.that would give you something to play on turn one aswel.

try dropping encase in ice for dispel or another counter spell so if they try to counter starfield or sigil

You could run Mind's dilation discard it and put it out with starfield next upkeep free 7 drop that mills 1 every turn and you could possibly cast something plus it would be a 7/7

Also I used to play a deck like this and ran oath of gideon if you have multiples legend rule one dies but you still get the 2 1/1s

He isnt running tokens it turns the enchantments themselves into creatures

ah, missed startfeild. I was thinking sigel of the empty throne. That makes... angels... i mean if you have a problem calling them tokens cause they are angelic then they are angel celestaial body permenets?

lol na i honestly just looked at the deck real quick and didnt even think about throne when glancing at it

Also, without Starfield of Nyx, Always Watching is a do nothing card.

0

Yes but you run 4 odds are you'll draw one and it makes cards like quarantine field a lot better since quarantine field is only a 2/2 that normally has 2 or more things exiled under it
