As soon is i saw the Collossus revealed, i knew i wanted a mana ramp deck that could pump him out as fast as possible!

Hmn...while i have used that combination in decks before, it might be a bit too slow in this deck. The Prophet is the big five drop that changes the game, and for gyre sage to be good, it needs to be easily able to evolve or put counters on. If i don't draw the cards that place counters, or something cheap that's bigger than Sage, it will slow the whole deck down, thus giveing the other player more time to set up, or ping me away if there redding it up. I think it might be better to stick with grunted amounts of mana, while drawing/scrying into prophet/colossus. Its a great set of cards, just maybe not for this deck. Thanks for the comment!

I was hesitant to put a playset in myself, but i found that if I can garuntee one within 4 or 5 turns, it would be pretty stupid. With the prophets i can counter what i need, at end of there turn flash in a bunch of mana producing creatures, repeat as needed till i can throw down the colossus. If i have one in hand, i can scry away from any of the other three, or scry into one if I don't. With this deck, the only real win condition is the Colossus itself, so out of 60 cards in this deck, only 4 of them can easily win me the game. Hopefully in the next couple weeks i can playtest this, and see if i need to add more counter spells or more draw power. Or even less mana ramp! But all this requires me getting the cards to play this in the first place XD

If you are focusing on Soldiers, then i would suggest putting some Murder Investigations in the deck. A cheap enchantment that helps out if you get board wiped or spot removal such as doom blade. Wayfaring Temple is a great card for decks that want lots of creatures, even going so far as to give you more creatures when it hits! Selesnya Charm gives you more tokens, plus a killish spell or buff for that little bit of extra damage. Frontline medic is a great card that lets you keep your creatures that much longer. Rootborn Defenses goes along with the keeping creatures alive theme, with the added benefit of Populate!

Agree on the Forced Adaptations! Need more Sava ge Summoning, need to find more Burst, need more gyre sage. The sliver is there to fix mana. Plus I only have the two black cards in the deck, so i need to be able to throw them down, since the Corpsejack Menace does SO much. And if i add putrefy, then i will need them even more! Don't own any Master Biomancer...actually never even seen one in person. Great card that I have been trying to acquire though. Bond Beetle is from 2013, so it will no longer be legal as of next week. Hmn...might have to go full on three color with this....

There are two sets of cards that I want for this deck. 3 to 4 Purphoros, God of the Forge, and 2 Hammer of Purphoros. The global haste, pluse every time a creature drops I do 2 damage to each opponent. Imagine haveing the red god and young pyromancer on the field. Every instant that makes a token does 2 damage. Plus anouther 2 damage for each young pyromancer. Then swing with everybody! I think I'm gonna put in some Seismic Stomp so i can swing for wins. Especially with a hammer out, giving all those tokens haste! Molten birth plus those two does 6 damage to opponent, plus three 1/1s. Swing unblocked with seismic stomp, which adds anouther 1/1 and anouther 2 damage, adds up to 14 damage in one turn NOT INCLUDEING anything that i might have done leading up to that fourth or fifth turn when that would happen...yeah...I'm excited for Theros! Also, thats if i don't have a Phantom General or Collective Blessing sitting down on the field either. Also think i might add Legions Initiative, since it will add more damage. And with the Manawefts helping with mana, and the populateing giveing me even MORE tokens, PLUS if i have a young pyromancer out...I really want some red god cards man....

Well, if you haven't already followed me, i would ask that you do. I end up with at least one new deck a week, if not more. A lot of times they are spur of the moment, so they end up a little rough around the edges XD.

Madcap Skills and Shiv's Embrace are pretty good red auras. And a great sideboard card would be Sphere of Safety. In decks like these it shuts down any and all aggro or creature decks! Anouther sideboard would be Volcanic Strength. Great for if you know there playing mountains!

Heh...hehe...that would be kinda funny. Cast the enchant and swing with everything.... I'll replace one hatchling and one egg for two of those....heh. That's kinda over powered.

Honestly, i think the deck is pretty solid as it is. Maybe put it in the sideboard, replaceing the two blunt assaults. Have them there for when you might need to bring the mana curve down against a faster deck, thus helping speed yours up. The main deck itself is good really.

Thats a lot better. This is when i first started trying out standard, and all my trades and such for the past year almost were for EDH, meaning i only needed one of each card. Suddenly i switch to playing both standard and EDH, and i saw how my collection had suffered for it. Multiples of cards makes a lot of difference I now see, and so i have been tradeing and buying with that in mind. I think after theros, when I get to two booster boxes i ordered, im going to go threw these first standard attempts and flesh them out some more. Or just make 2.0 versions like i did for the Populate deck. Yours will be a reference point though, so thanks again!

Thanks! I think the only other card I wanted for this deck was Cathar's Crusade, and that plus Howl would be pretty funny.

Only thing else i would suggest is maybe finding a place for some things like pacifism, help slow down the other player early game, or take out blockers late game when you have the creatures. Lot of fun stuff comeing out for theros that you could put in here, but i will wait until it's released before i put any of those down XD.

I would suggest switching out the voracious wurms with either Llanowar elves, or manaweft slivers. Help speed up the mana ramp. Or both voracious and worldspine wurm. Bring the ramp up, and the curve down at the same time!

With the goblin tokens you have lying around, i would recommend Voracious Dragon. Five mana dragon, plus a potentially stupid amount of damage wherever you want it? Heck yeah! Hellkite hatchling gives you a decent Flyer/Trampler. Good for running over flying white walls! Looks like a lot of fun, always loved mycoloth and thromok.

Archwing is there for Scourge of Valkas. The ability to have a guaranteed dragon every turn that i can throw down for spot damage and swing with, plus builds up the door of destinies on the side, makes it very powerful. Switched out the braids for battle hymn, didn't think about it disapearing. Already have 4 desperate rituals. Wanted to keep the deck modern, which bumped out Mana Echoes and Dragonspeaker Shaman. If you have any advice for my other decks, please don't hesitate to comment! A different perspective is always nice!
