how about turn 3 traumatize turn 4 glimpse, scour, dark ritual and haunting echoes? lol turn 4 almost insta kill if it isn't a EDH or toolbox deck lol i think you could work out dark tutelages for surgical extractions, i dont really see why dark tutelage is so good... you lose life to draw another card...

check out my extraction deck, not modern (idk wat any of that stuff is... i just know the names, standard and casual lol) i think you need to put life's finale in maindeck, it is really good and prolly will save u a lot (unless creatures have haste) i also suggest taking out gitaxian probe for 2 dark rituals or more memorcides my opinion and also i dont know anything about modern (rules and the like)

use tangle it taps your opponents creatures and keeps them tapped for a turn
verdant catacombs is for deck thinning, so he has a better chance of drawing cards he wants
or you could use a lure or 2 for greater basilisk
