Enchantment heavy deck. Inspired by the Personal Sanctuary and Manabarbs combo.
Get out a Personal Sanctuary and Manabarbs. Use Pyrohemia during your turn to kill off small creatures and deal some extra direct damage if you have Spitemare out. Beef up Mesa Enchantress and Kor Spiritdancer with your auras and draw cards for it.

I had considered using Spellshock and Pyrostatic Pillar, but decided Powerstone Minefield, Pyrohemia and Spitemare would be better as they can help defend against creatures and deal direct damage. Smoke works really well in this deck of mine: http://mtgvault.com/1111222334/decks/bazaar-taker/>
No doubt, well cool deck idea still =] I really like personal sanctuary. I would had added more creatures to mine like spitemare, and balefire liege, but I went for field destruction and damage so stuffy doll is pretty much the only creature worth adding

Ghostly Prison would be perfect, but I usually don't spend more than $2 on a single card and Sphere of Saftey works just as well for a bit higher mana cost. Your friend's deck is badass, but over $250?! I try to keep my decks under $20.

earthquake goes very well with personal sanctuary i run those two cards and mana barbs in my angel edh deck
Earthquake would work well, but Pyrohemia functions the same way. Also, I didn't want to use any instant or sorcery spells because enchantments let me draw more cards and help Sphere of Safety and Ethereal Armor.
