Deck discussion for Golgari dropping 1's

Yes I know green sun's zenith has an x but you don't pay anything for x because you're using it to pull out dryad arbor. So you cast it for 1 cmc.

nah, this looks good. Not the way that I would have done it, but probably better. :) I don't normally paly Golgari, so I am unfamiliar with it.

wouldn't dryad arbor be colorless since all lands are colorless

You would think but when it comes to land creatures it counts it as a green creature. That's why this combo is banned in modern. There's about 30 sub rules that explain it.

no, if you read the normal version of the card, it says that it is green, and not a spell, and is affected by summoning sickness. (most of which isn't relevant but I don't care. :) but it is green.

The main added benefit from it is it can't be countered because it's not considered a spell and at very least it's a free 1/1. Plus your opponent would look pretty silly wasting removal on it, which actually happens quite often.... Then they instantly wish they'd of saved it for deathrite or another horridly OP card.

I should've just posted the future sight version but that's not the one I have. Ocd controls my life.

they go for it because well... how often do you get a chance to take out a land with a non-land removal card? lands are normally fairly hard to get rid of and they power a deck. so most people would say that you are severely hindering someone by taking out their lands. but in a deck like this... I don't think it is so bad, since everything is only 1 mana, and there are FAR more dangerous cards to use those removal spells on. :)

I must say I'm new to this site but not magic and this one, your Izzet one and kazzong's orzhov are by far the best in my mind.

Yeah, there's so many now it's hard to choose. I don't think I've even seen them all.

I think that is a good thing, right? the idea has kind of caught on a bit with a few people. which makes me happy. :)

If we're aloud to pick one of our own, I'd say this one, your orzhov one and the mono black one. Not in any specific order, the mono black one just looks like it would be fun win or lose.

Yeah man, the more the merrier. It's a fun idea and me and a buddy actually played a few games with one drop decks. It's quite entertaining.

agreed. it is a fun concept, and I wish that I had the money to build some of these decks for real. :) it would be a real treat. I think that building decks like this really challenges a player to be extremely creative to be effective.

Yeah if you have a huge card library it's really fun to do a ten minute deck. Another way to challenge yourself at building better and seeing card interactions.

Note that you can do Green Sun's Zenith where X=0 for Dryad Arbor.
Also glimpse of nature and nettle sentinel

Why not Sedge Scorpion instead of (or as well as) Pharika's Chosen? Same price, and Zenith can grab it.

1
Posted 18 May 2014 at 15:46

Why Pharika's Chosen? Go for Wasteland Viper, it seems to make more sense to me. And you can Green Sun's for it, if necessary.

Why? Because I forgot about wasteland viper haha.

I would place 4 gravecrawler, CMC 1 that keeps coming back(3/4 of your creature would be zombie)
and Deadly allure, CMC1, flashback 1, creature must be blocked and deathtouch, you can use your small creature 1/1 and force your opponent to block with the creature he doesn't want to fight with
Tragic slip for CMC 1 put a -13/-13
cry of of contribution, you can usually make your opponent discard 2 card for 1 mana
Ghoulcaller's Chant, return 2 zombie(or 1 creature) from your graveyard to your hand for 1 mana

Mistcutter Hydra
Protean Hydra
Feral Hydra
CMC 1 hydra, it can enter the battled as 1/1 for 2 mana
