Deck discussion for Mea Mentis

My whole idea is to very quickly shut down any other deck by forcing them to only play one card during their turn, which i counter with a counter spell on my Scepter. This should force the game to go on long enough that i can get a few Horseshoe Crabs into play, with Charisma and Viridian Longbow on them. If this happens, i can take as many creatures per turn as I have untapped Islands. If im in a good position at the end of the turn, any crabs and mana that i have left over can be turned into direct damage. I would really appreciate any advice....Iv played magic for quite a while (since Kamigawa) but im still nowhere near as good as i would like to be.

Ouch, look likes it would work well but DAMN! Wouldnt want to play against this for sure. Besides springleaf drum you cant play your fog patch?? Put it on a stick i guess. Maybe remove fire/ice for some spell pierce for early game control. I would also recommend bribery over charisma. Good luck

I thought about it, but Bribery is only 1 creature per card, with longbow/Charisma/Crab its as many islands as i have to tap, per turn. Bribery might make a really good Sideboard card, if i know that person has a monster in his deck that i want....Im looking at YOU Ulamog!

This is really cool! I love this kind of creative control, very good job. Maybe take out springleaf drum and fog patch for some a draw engine? Also one or two more aether bursts, you're really not getting your money's worth if you can only proc it once, or taking it out for a more wipey board wipe. Anyways, looks really cool and I like it quite a bit. The Aether burst is sort of like a fallback plan. If my enemy looks like they are going too fast for me, i can toss play one, and possibly imprint the other on the Scepter. I may put some draws into the Sideboard, for playing aginst people who have gotten used to this deck after a while....Just to confuse them ;)

This is a frustrating deck to have a match with. Horseshoe crab + Viridian Longbow is really good. Charisma made it epic. Nice choice of defense for fog bank. Could you: -2 Fog Patch and +2 Aether burst or Echoing truth. Aether burst is just that good even without Isochron Scepter. And Echoing truth is really good against tokens. And Use 2 Counterspell / 2 Memory lapse instead. Memory lapse on Stick is just so annoying. Imagine your opponent drawing the same card all the time?
But overall, this is already a very solid deck Aigloblam! You did justice to control. Good job and keep it up!

Great Idea! Since this deck recently got Stolen.....Im putting Memory Lapse into my Sideboard, so when i get it back or Re-Order the thing, I can try it out. Wonderful MEEEAAANN edition....I can just see this being played after someone only has one card in their hand...Hope they like drawing that card again Forever! Im going to take your advice on the Fogs and Aether Burst....Fog Patch never really did much in the first place when i played...Thank you :)

I was kinda' sick last night when I left the comment, now I gave a good look again to this deck. I didn't saw that you have arcane laboratory there. Trim it down to 2, and make curiosity 3 only. I just feel like it's too heavy to have 3 Arcane laboratory and 4 Curiosity. And we don't want to draw the same enchantment again and again right? Besides, Horshe Crab on Viridian longbow itself is already good.
Arcane laboratory + Memory lapse on stick is so painful.
I'm thinking that you can do this instead:
-1 Arcane laboratory
-1 Curiosity
-1 Counterspell
+1 Echoing truth
+2 Memory Lapse
That would definitely put more control on your deck and at least lighten the mana curve. Thanks again!

3. Exactly three. I didnt feel i needed to put more than Three hamsters in any particular butt to get my thoughts across. I think 4 might be a bit much, considering the mana curve of your average Hamster, plus the capacity of any given butt.

@Mashitta

No we dont want to draw them too many times, but we need to make sure we draw one as soon as possible. I was faced with Draw Frequency vs Speed, and since for now i dont play against too many really fast decks, I chose Draw Frequency. When i start facing faster decks, ill switch things around more to your point of view, and feel safer against them.

arcane laboratory and isochron scepter look like a nice addition to my deck. and bribery for the sidedeck also seems wise.

I LOVE Isochron Scepter...In my head its like a Swiss Army knife. My favorite Combo with it is Isochron Scepter + Any Imprintable Spell = Echo Mage Fully Leveled
I made a proxy deck and tried it out once, and it was pretty horrible.
I imprinted Aether Burst, after playing the other 3, Then used it plus Echo Mage's last ability and sent 12 Creatures back to my Opponents hand by only Two Mana and Two cards tapped....It made his Eyeballs pop out.

Nah, i've actually, strangely enough, got her in one of my Mill decks. For this deck she costs too much, and she can only take one card per tap, where Horseshoe crab can take a lot more. Nice suggestion though.
