Deck Description

U/G Aggro. Have gone 6/0, 5/0, 4/0 at FNM in local game stores. This deck got me Top 8 (6th) at Star City Games Super IQ.

How to Play

In theory a good game should result in these plays:
-Turn 1: Cackler or Captain Kirk
-Turn 2: Either Ash Zealot, Flinthoof Boar, or Burning-Tree Emissary into a burn or another creature (preferably Lightning Mauler if boarded in)
-Turn 3: Boros Reckoner
-Turn 4: Hellrider

If there's a lot of blockers on the opposing side and you have a Hellrider in hand, I find that it's often best to hold off the attack until turn four to get the most out of the Hellrider triggers. Ghor-Clan Rampager is reserved for his Bloodrush ability either to deliver a killing blow, kill off a blocker that holds a lot of board power, or often to save either Boros Reckoner or Hellrider. Burn spells are reserved to kill off potential blockers, board threats, or deliver the killing blow.

General rule of thumb for sideboarding swapping:
-Burn for Burn
-Creature for Creature
-Utility for Utility
I find that only in a few rare occasions can I interchange that rule and still have the deck function normally.

-VS Zombies/Reanimator: Pillar of Flames usually on Geralf's Messenger and Gravecrawler to get them out of the game. Aside from that I usually board in Lightning maulers in order to offset all of the creature removal G/B tends to play. Also board in Tormod's Crypt to wipe out their graveyard to prevent Scavenge abilities and again Gravecrawler.

-VS Ghosts/Spirits/Vampires: Killing off Obzedat and Blood Artist to prevent life gain/drain is pretty important. They will try to flood you with flying spirit tokens, board in Blasphemous Act for board wipe and deal the 13 damage to Boros Reckoner, redirect that damage to the opponent for the kill.

-VS Thragtusk/Centaur Healer/Sphinx Revelation: Skullcrack! This line up seems to be the biggest threat with this deck and the response is to stray away from the aggro mind set and play a little more defensively. Due to the wide amount of removal/denial this match up plays (Supreme Verdict, Charms), it's often best to never drop a full load of creatures. Even if they have Restoration on the Board (often their win condition) they won't hesitate to drop Supreme Verdict once you drop a fourth creature. So play a little more defensively, swing when you can with out risking a creature loss, try to hold off on a fourth (sometimes a third) creature unless its Hellrider and you are full swinging and getting your trigger damage in. Save some mana to drop Skullcrack on their Centaur Healer/Thragtusk or their big life gain, Sphinx's Revelation. They may get the draw off with Sphinx's Rev, but don't let them gain 13 life in the process! I find Harvest Pyre is useful verse this match up if you can drop it late game on Boros Reckoner and redirect the damage for the win.

-VS R/W Humans: This is pretty much a mirror match, but something to really watch out for is Silverblade Paladin. Pillar of Flame the Silverblade with much hate! Double Strike gives your mirror match the upper hand and you need to get rid of it ASAP! Another thing to look out for is Boros Charm giving their creatures indestrucable, which they will often do if Silverblade Paladin or Boros Reckoner are being threatened. Beware of multiple Boros Reckoner triggers and prepare for their triggers to trigger more triggers. Harvest Pyre on your Boros Reckoner is a good way to overcome a losing stalemate (losing because of their Double Strike!) and Blasphemous Act should be avoided if they have Boros Reckoner on the field. Boarding in Lightning Mauler may help you out aggro this match up.

-VS Aggro/Mirror: Board in Lightning Mauler to win the aggro race. The winner is going to be whoever has more creatures on board. Blasphemous Act if the opponent outnumbers you in creatures on board.

Deck discussion for Standard Gruul Aggro

you have planed your side board out really good but what cards would you take out when sideboarding cards in.

cUzNfLIcK3r , that's a hell of a question! It seems to be very situational really. Sometimes it's obvious, some times I have to make a judgement call. These are some common swaps I do though:

-VS Thragtusk/Centaur Healer/Sphinx's Revelation:
4 Pillar of Flames for 4 Skullcrack.

-VS Zombies/Reanimator:
2 Ghor-Clan Rampager for 2 Tormod's Crypt.
or
4 Ghor-Clan Rampager for 4 Lightning Mauler in order to offset them killing all my creatures.

-VS Aggro or anything with mass creatures:
4 Pillar of Flames for a combination of Harvest Pyre and Blasphemous Act. If they are running Boros Reckoner I'm inclined to side in both Harvest Pyres so I can snipe my own Reckoner, with out giving my opponent a trigger as well.

Generally I try to do burn for burn, creature for creature, or utility for utility. Cases in which I will board utility/burn out for more creatures is when they have board wipes and spot kills. Again, every deck I come up against is different so boarding is case by case scenario.

Alchamire I appreciate your comments bro! I learned a lot! Shows once again that its not all about the deck, gotta play it right..Even though i played few fnms i did not encounter thrug/ resto yet... Go figure...
The only thing i cannot grasp is how would they gain 13 life from revelations? Would require tons of mana no?

Another question, why Tormod's crypt as opposed to Grafdigger's cage?
