Deck Description

ub aggro control with death's shadow-

How to Play

If you can, open with probe so you can figure out what your gameplan is. After you know what your doing, you can lead with Delver, Thoughtseize, or Serum Visions. If you're on the draw, Keeping (U) open to Spell Snare your opponents t2 can be a good opening play as well. All your really trying to do is get a beater out and protect him. Pay a lot of life to get a shadow big and smash a few times for the win.

If you can, save counterspells for protecting your guys. There's only a few threats in the deck, so once they're out you need to keep them out.

Lingering Souls is good for stalling and also for getting some damage in. Those tokens have flying; don't underestimate a flipped delver with a small army of flyers behind him.

A common misconception is that burn/ rdw hoses this deck, but its simply not true. Phyrexian Unlife in the main and Timely Reinforcements in the side almost always gets you there.

Deck discussion for modern death's shadow

It seems with the pay life for large shadow theme, u will have a lot of games with low life totals, may i suggest phyrexian unlife to protect u in those situations.

And since you might be down near 5 life anyways, you could maybe sideboard some fateful hour cards, like the one that makes all your creatures indestructible. ( can't remember the name right now.) Or you could throw in near death experience, cause that would be funny. :)

The other card that cones to mind is dark confidant. It does cause some sketchy seeming life loss, but that is kinda the point here isn't it?

The reason im not using dark confidant is because the life loss from him is too unpredictable. with the cards im using, i get to decide when or if i deal damage to myself.

i might wanna upgrade to thoughtseize in the future though.

some of the fateful hour cards might actually be cool. break of day is the one your thinking about. i was playing against a RWU control deck that was hosing me with supreme verdict. that card would have been nice there :p

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought, but it just popped into my head as something that MIGHT work. But yeah life loss too inconsistent to be very useful. and yes, break of day is the one!!! A couple of other cards that cone to mind are dead reackoning, and faiths shield. Cheap protection, and powerful removal if you lose your shadow.
