Deck Description

I just started playing and I have limited funds. This is my first angel deck I've ever made and I don't see myself getting another box for a while. Does the Platinum Angel belong in this deck?

Deck discussion for beginner angel deck

First thing that I notice here is the mana curve. you have quite a few spells that are 5+ and you only have 21 lands. You might run into some mana problems along the way. I don't think Silence is going to do the job in the 'spells' department. Look into picking up some Day of Judgement. I don't think they are that expensive, so it shouldn't hurt your wallet too much. Maybe even exchange your Ajani's Mantra with 2 Honor of the Pure. pump up them low casting cost creatures until your big guys come out.

DO I need to have 60 cards in this deck? Also is there any cards that just don't belong?

Well the rules for a legal constructed decks are to have at least 60 cards. Your deck can be over 60 as long as it isn't too large for you to shuffle it on your own. There are some different tournaments that play 40 card decks, but you build them on the spot from fresh boosters instead of building them beforehand.

I recommend that you play with 60 because its the official rules and is how most people play. However if you are playing in a casual play group, as long as everyone agrees on the minimum legal deck size play with whatever you want. If coming up with the funds for enough cards to build a 60 card decks is a problem or your group just likes smaller decks then just play with 40 card decks.

I dont know if your playing vintage, leg or stand or extend... but If your going vintage, up the land count to 23

Grab a few man lands like mishras factory or forbidding watch tower to block of any early creatures. Second you need to grab land tax and a few oblivion rings. next is dawn charms or orim's chants depending on how you want to play. Maybe put an isochron scepter or 2 in there to really annoy you opponent. I have a deck that may help you in your angel deck. take a look at the lands I use and the reason behind them. In vintage play though angel decks wont make it. Usually by second turn your dead because you have guys with power 9 stuff. f your play casual then build a deck within a similar fashion like mine

You'll be able to get some idea of how to get the angels out fast and quick. And yes platinum angel belongs in most any angel deck unless your running some kind of b/w meddling mage control.
