Deck discussion for blightsteel (please comment)

Honestly, looking at the deck you wont last long enough to get your kill cards out.

I would recommend ether a blue/black or blue/white control. some kind of counterspell build with ether black or white as a secondary color(not both, only one).

Use Tezzeret the Seeker.
Artifact lands: Seat of the Synod, and the one for what secondary color you choose.
+1: Untap up to two target artifacts.(tap two artifact lands for 2 mana, untap them with tezz; then tap them both again. 2 land produce 4 mana)
-X: Search your library for an artifact card with converted mana cost X or less and put it into play.
(artifact lands are 0 mana cost, guess what that means... -0 counters and get a land)

Focus completely one control, don't try to do everything, just counterspell with some creature control.

then use your Quicksilver Amulet + Emrakul, the Aeons Torn combo as your kill.

I would run 2: Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
3: Etched Champion

and no other creatures.

If you want the ability to hard cast Emrakul, then you should run.

1x Urza's Mine
1x Urza's Power Plant
1x Urza's Tower

But With Quicksilver Amulet you can get away without having them.

Ponder would help with deck stacking but only use 4x Ponder for deck stacking. The more non control cards you have in the deck, the more your opponent can do.

Always remember; just because a card is a good card, does not mean it is a good card for your deck.

Keep it simple, do one thing well, and use cards that are good for your deck. There are plenty of 10 cent cards out there that are phenomenal cards, just in one particular deck.

If you are finding that you need more lands out quicker, then go down to 2x Etched Champion and add 3x Trinket Mage: When Trinket Mage comes into play, you may search your library for an artifact card with converted mana cost 1 or less, reveal that card, and put it into your hand. If you do, shuffle your library. (search for your artifact lands that cost 0 mana)

But try it without first and see if it is needed.

Remember with control decks, creatures should be kept to a minimal amount, be cheap to cast, and do something to aid the deck.

First I'm basing my assessment of your deck off of decks that I'm used to playing with. I play with some really good players, that have really good decks. (They play in every local tournament, and do well)

Second there is no such thing as a cheap search card that is any good. There are a lot of cheap crappy search cards, or expensive good search cards.

A quicker mana pool could be obtained by:

1) running more then 20 lands
2) running fewer then 40 spells, and running 20 or more lands.
3) Dual lands (they cost $) but are basic lands that tap for 2 colors. Lots of cards that get you basic lands.
4) splashing green or black, black has Dark Ritual, green has the best mana acceleration in the game.
5) using tricks like the ones I noted above with Tezz or Trinket Mage.

If you would like to take a look at my artifact based control deck, its a completely original idea (as in I'm the first to do it)
